PIC WORKER'S UNITE
In the Summer of 2004 PIC started an anti-union campaign and put out this question and answer

Is PIC concerned it will have to share more of its "profits" if the union gets in?

Answer: No not at all. A unionized workforce does not automatically mean employees will get more money. In fact the average union raises in Canada were only 2-2.5%.  With current compensation structure,
PIC employees have the potential to increase their income by 9% (containment rates) and 10% sort rates annually, over the next 2 years.

TRUTH: 5 months later PIC dropped rates for nearly all Quality Inspectors by 10-20%
DONT FALL FOR THEIR LIES AGAIN!!!

How many more cuts will Quality Inspectors take till we realize that we need job protection? Most of these jobs used to be CAW unionized jobs, we understand that we have to remain competitive yet PIC management seems to think the only way that is possible is by decreasing our already low rates.  All this is done while they are expanding into new regions, Expansion and overhead is not free, it is coming of our pay cheques every week!  PIC says their competition runs out of someones basement; can you honestly believe the only way PIC can compete is by lowering our wages?  PIC Management has failed us, and they have failed to keep up to their job responsibilities, which is to remain competitive and provide top notch service to its clients. We as Quality Inspectors, have always held our end of the responsibilities, by providing 24hr availability, quick response and credibility. PIC Management on the other hand has failed, and are pointing the finger at us!

It has been rumoured that Al Duffy said that if a union comes in, he will drop all employees to 10$/hr, allegedly. This can not be done, once a union is voted in there is an automatic payfreeze until negotiations take place. Whether this rumour is true or not, it stresses the urgency that we need a union to protect our rates. The quicker all Quality Inspectors sign a card and send it in, the quicker we can freeze our rates and start the negotiating process. If you havent sent in your signed union membership card or havent received one please email [email protected] with your full mailing address and phone number and name, or call John Hull at 1-800-263-9938 ext 251.

Our current situation calls for all Quality Inspectors to join together and fight for a common goal, our rights, protection, pay rates and a united voice. It has been rumoured that Management and other employees have been trying to stop our union efforts by passing through the grapevine, threats of job cuts, further pay decreases etcSince it is illegal for an employer to do such an activity, a "Vote No" committee often mysteriously appears. This committee does managements dirty work. It passes out literature filled with company lies about the union or through word of mouth. It spreads rumours and insults co-workers who support the union. "Vote No" committee members may be recruited from friends and relatives of management. Usually, they are promised special treatment or a promotion for their foul deeds.

PIC management knows that if you and your co-workers are unified, you can stand up for your rights. The aim of an anti-union committee is to divide people and create hatred. Managers may try to divide people, but unions bring people together. Dont fall for the companys lies.
