SLR Parts List


This is a list for an all manual camera. There are many advanced designs and features found on todays cameras. Please see your cameras manual for exact specifications.

  1. Body- Provides frame for parts
  2. Back - Holds film flat, Blocks out light (not shown)
  3. Rewind - Moves film back into camera
  4. ISO Wheel - Sets film speed for camera
  5. Shutter - Controls light, Controls speed (not shown)
  6. Pentaprism - Changes image for correct viewing
  7. Hot Shoe - Provides contact for activating flash
  8. Take-up Spool - Holds film, part of film wind (not shown)
  9. Film Wind - Moves film one frame forward
  10. Shutter Release - Triggers shutter to open
  11. Lens - Focuses image
  12. Aperture - Controls light, Changes depth of field
  13. Focus screen - Shown as outline below pentaprism
  14. Shutter Speed Dial - Sets shutter speeds
