Photography can be a very rewarding hobby. Although it may seem difficult to learn the equipment, with a little knowledge and practice you can be producing good quality photos in no time. Once you see the results of your efforts you will want to start capturing the world around you on a regular basis.
You'll need a starting point for creating an image of which you'll be proud. That first step should be to get familiar with your equipment. In this case an SLR (single lens reflex) with manual operations as an option. The reason is that it allows for a greater degree of creativity over a camera that is only automatic.
Once you know the parts of your camera you can start to make better images. With just a little knowledge of technique and a few hints you will notice an improvement in the quality of your photos. Don't be discouraged if you feel you only have a few good photos out of every roll of film. One of the worlds greatest photographers, Ansel Adams, had this to say:
Expression is more important than reality, idea more important than fact, the print more important than its subject. For it is only in the print that such magnificence can be unfailingly orchestrated. Twelve photographs that matter in a year is a good crop for any photographer. An infinite number of visual confrontations with the landscape produces only twelve epiphanies.Did you catch that? Not twelve per roll of film. Twelve per year!
This is an example photo of what you can achieve with basic camera parts knowledge and a little photo technique.
