| Rather dismal day in terms of weather and wind, so no photos... For the second day in a row, I left earlier (7:40) and arrived later (5:30). The wind wasn't too kind today, and the rain even less so. I got drenched after lunch in Norland and warmed up in Gooderham at the Chinese (only) restaurant. Dinner was OK, but all that mattered was that it was not. I even had coffee (I'm not a coffee drinker, but I couldn't resist the warmth).! The ride was pretty enough, but some sun would have been nice, so no pictures were taken. I've passed from limestone (Niagara Escarpment) to the granite of northern Ontario. Happened pretty quickly, just northeast of Oriallia, I think. Despite the rain I rode all day in shorts and t-shirt. I was only chilly when I stopped for more than a few minutes or when I started pedalling again. My rinsed clothes from yesterday didn't get a chance to dry today, so it looks like tomorrow I'll have damp clothes. And my shoes are wet through, so wet feet too! Ah well, there's a games room here, so I'm hanging out in here with table, chair and lights, so it's really not that bad. What might be frustrating tomorrow is the possibility of packing up camp in the rain. Not a bid deal, though, since I have a house to stay at tomorrow. Also, there's room in the games room to fold up the tent, so I should be able to avoid getting it too covered with dirt and grass and leaves. Such are the trials of the rain! I'll try to time my pack-up tomorrow with when there' s lull (at least packing up the tent - the rest gets packed under the fly, so no problem). Now I'm off to read the Two Towers, which I picked up for $4 yesterday and started last night! Oh, and the hills weren't quite as steep today, while the road was a very 'long and winding road...' |
