ABOUT THE BAND...
Philippine Heritage Band (PHB) is a marching and concert band based in Vaughan (the city above Toronto), Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1980, it is a non-profit corporation and is federally registered as a charitable organization. Its basic objectives include the preservation of the "Community" band, enrich the social and artistic life of our communities through its performances, and develop its predominantly youth members through its diverse programs. As a cultural group, PHB contributes to the enhancement of Canada's multi-cultural mosaic.

Membership Musicians are a mix of youth and adults of different age groups from all walks of life. While their sons and daughters form the nucleus of the instrument sections, parents constitute the colour and marshalling units or serve in committees. PHB is virtually an organization of families from many communities.
DETAILS...

The Youth
PHB is a medium for youth training and development . Together in training, travel, performances, sports and social events, they expand their knowledge, build their character, develop peer relationships, grace and self-confidence and refine their attitude resulting in better perception of life, their ethnic origin and that of others. PHB has a scholarship program and, periodically, conducts leadership seminars and workshops on various subjects.

Adults
PHB's concept is youth and adult in partnership. Many adults in PHB's roster started as youth members and have chosen to stay because PHB does not impose age restrictions. As an incentive, those with 5 years of service are qualified to join the Seniors' Concert Band. The wealth of talent and experience of our adult musicians keep PHB's music at a professional level.

Capabilities
Marching, full concerts, mini-concerts, ceremonies, processions, drum corps demonstrations and twirling demonstrations, PHB does them all.

Development Programs
PHB is a processing centre for youth training and development. Besides music, PHB offers on-going seminars and workshops on various subjects such as crime prevention, drug abuse, teen pregnancy, leadership skills, as well as sports and spring camp programs.
