| The map above shows the ash-choked Darklands of the Dawi Zharr. The clans of the Dawi Zharr, united under the steel rule of the obsidian lords of Zharr Naggrund, dispise their goblinoid slaves almost as much as their burning hatred for their western Dawi cousins whom they name traitors for abandonning them at the time of the chaos disaster long ago in the east. Under the dark fiery worship of Hashut the fire God of the Dwarven underworld, they have become twisted masters of a vast eastern empire and have overcome the attacking hordes of chaos that isolated them from the west. With their forging skill and might the Dawi Zharr have conquered all the surrounding goblinoid and orc tribes of the land and have constucted vast machines of war in preperation for their invasion of the west. Yet all this dark worship and might is at a cost, for they were horribly mutated by the winds of chaos and the twisting warp storms in the black time of destruction, and their once handsome Dawi faces have been twisted with long growing tusks and their beards have grown obsidian black while their hearts ans jet-black eyes turn to stone under the foul corrupting worship of Hashut. The Black sorcerers of the Dawi Zharr have embraced Hashuts dark wisdom that spreads further corruption throughout the lands and increases the fiery might of the Dawi Zharr in readiness for unleashing Hashuts wrath upon the weakling west. |

| The Dark Lands are named the 'Ash lands' by those who have travelled its evil warp-storm wracked earth and survived because of its choking deserts of warp dust and vast bone-strewn steppes where little life grows and the trickle of water is seldome heard. From the Dawi Zharr slave mines vast slag heaps of rubble and grey ash are vomited out onto the plains to bury the weaskest slaves that die of exhaustion and to swirl into the sulphorous smoke-polluted air to dim the sun. Long ago, before the coming of Chaos from the north and the fall of the Old Ones, these lands used to be fertile plains where the Dawi of the mworlds edge mountains, their Elven allies and the young Human tribes built many settlements to trade with the travelling trade waggons carrying silk and precious metals from far Nippon and the Kingdom of Ind in the far east. And to the south the ancient Kingdom of Lahmia at that time was very powerful and traded freely with the races of the north and west. Yet at the coming of chaos when the daemonic hordes poured from out of the ruins of the Old Ones warp gate southwards on mutating winds of chaos to conquer the lands of mortals, titanic battles raged across the land between the forces of darkness and the races of the world, and contact with the far east was broken. Countless heroes were born and fell in battle in this time and these lands became so war torn and corrupted by the blood of daemons and mutating warp dust that the land itself split and heaved in disgust at the touch of the unnatural armies of chaos and was tainted forever by dark sorceries into a dessicated ruined land of darkness. When the forces of chaos were finally beated back by the alliance of Men, Elves and Dwarfs in the old world, expedition forces of the Dwarfs found to their horror that their disatant eastern cousins had suffered a fate worse than death: they had been corrupted and twisted by the taint of chaos into beings of evil who worshipped their dark fiery God Hashut of the underworld and had allied themselves as slave masters to the hideous tribes of goblinoids and Orcs in this barren land. The Dawi reacted with horror and shot at these mutant creatures that were once their cousins, and fled back to the west. Unfortunately the Dawis reaction was seen as betrayal to the Dawi Zharr survivors who mhad managed to live through the black time of destruction and beat back the hordes of chaos with their new found lore of Hashut they had turned to in their desperation, and so a deep hatred seeded itself in their blackenning hearts and for ever more they became mortal enemies of the western Dawi. Since then the Dark Lands has been at constant war with the western old world, and any who cross the Worlds Edge Mountains into these dark twisted lands risk a painful death, or even worse, enslavement into the Dawi Zharr obisidan mines. |
