Here's how a promotional
brochure for the kuala lumpur film festival
might sound like...
For
14 days, the nation capital's Chinatown district plays host to the Kuala
Lumpur International Film Festival. Petaling Street, with its colourful
activities and even more "colourful" inhabitants and patrons, becomes a
backdrop for this annual event that celebrate the love for movies.
During these 2 weeks, various
film-related events and activities will be held in venues around Chinatown.
Amongst them are:
|
a promotional
event for film distribution,
a convention
for the dicussion of the state of the regional film-industry,
a film-making
workshop and of course the main event,
the movie
screenings, showcasing the best, critically-acclaimed, international films
|
While the main event puts existing
structure to good use (REX Cinema), the other activies take advantage of
new indoor venues in the Kuala Lumpur Film Institute and the pawagam KL
Bistro.
Besides film-related events,
there's also fringe activities, included in the programme to enliven the
atmosphere of the festivities.
|
a mini-concert
is held on the grounds that historically was the venue for a local Chinese
opera,
the paved
plaza near the LRT Station becomes a "stage" for performance artists and
buskers to strut their stuff
|
In an effort to make the
general public more aware of the festivities, 2 "movie-space"
pavilions are erected at polar ends of the district. These promotional
kiosk displays information and schedules of the events. Its light-and-image
show also gives the public a glimpse of the films participating in the
festival.
