-Raymond Ames Spruance.

1886-1969. He is commanding the battleship Mississippi when war starts. In 1940 while he is counter-admiral, Spruance is at the head of the navy district of the Caraibes and then at the head of a cruiser squadron. In May 1942 he take the place of Halsey, who is sick, at the head of the 16th Task Force for the battle of Midway. He is then promoted vice-admiral and chief of the headquarter of commandant Nimitz and so he can direct the reconquest of the Gilbert and Marshall islands. After he commands the 5th fleet and attacks the Truk island (major japanese base) with success and then fights in the Philippines sea. Finally he takes part in the conquest of the Mariannas and Okinawa. He becomes admiral in 1944 and comes after Nimitz at the head of the Pacific fleet.
