Crawl 10 MILES latest start 11am KITTEN CRAWL (starts 11am) This is a quick 10-mile ride for people who want to participate but cannot commit the whole day, don't have an adequate bike, or feel they cannot complete the longer rides. While all roads have regular traffic, they are wide and have bike lanes. Part of this ride will take you on a pleasant, flat path away from the cars through the scenic wetlands in west Eugene. SPANIEL STRETCH (starts 9am) This flat, 27-mile ride is perfect for the intermediate rider who enjoys the open road but would still like some exercise! Looping around the airport area northwest of Eugene, the route will take you through gorgeous farmlands on primarily straight roads. Not all of the roads have bike lanes but have good visibility. GREYHOUND HAUL (starts 7:30am) The longest of the three rides at about 45 miles will progress through west Eugene out to Green Hill Rd and loop north around Fern Ridge Lake. Twisting over hills and scenic back roads, it will end up in Veneta and move southwest past picturesque Oregon countryside. Going back into town, it will end up on Bailey Hill Rd for one final climb before the quick descent back to Churchill High School. While many of the roads on this route have little traffic, some of them do not have bike lanes and include many ascents and descents...good lungs, legs, and brakes are highly recommended! |
