Murder: Politi narrow suspects to five
A ruffled Mrs. Bird is convinced all five cats living at the Dankvart Dreyers Vej home are involved in the murder.
Mrs. Bird admitted her husband detests cold weather, such as Odense endured the last two weeks of March, and he has been known to fly south for stints of relaxation and sun. But she denied he flew the coop this time.

"We have eggs on the nest. It just isn't like him to shirk his responsibilities so. He loved those eggs. And he loved me. And he loved our nest. And he loved life," Mrs. Bird chirped, fighting back her tears.

She also categorically denied the two had ever fought about nest construction and that she possesses an annoying voice.

Authorities have backtracked Mr. Bird's actions the day before he was reported missing. They have determined he was last seen eating lunch at the bird feeders in Bette's backyard, next to the house where the feathers were found in the quiet neighborhood in the middle of Odense.

For now, the attention turns to the five cats known to live at that residence.

The politi have not secured a search warrant for the premises, but have questioned the suspects, who have been identified as "house cats of various breeds and colorations." Although no arrests have been made, the names of the suspects have been ascertained. They are Marlowe, Ted, Edgar Allan, Monie and Gizmo.

In a press conference inspector Jensen noted all of the suspects have previous records of violence, and all are reputed bird killers.

"There is quite a violent history among the inhabitants of that Dankvart Dreyers Vej address," he said.

During an impromptu line-up, as the five cats paraded by a window in the house, Mrs. Bird identified all of them as the killer. "It's him and him and him and her and her!" she madly squawked.

When politi authorities tried to calm her, she denied being "ruffled" and continued to beat her wings against the side of her body in despair while screeching that those were the killers. All of them.
