| Cats are suspects in disappearance of Mr. Jay Bird -- feathers suggest foul play | ||||||||||||||||||
| Denmark-Five cats living in a suburb of Odense remain under suspicion after incriminating evidence of murder has surfaced in their backyard. A garbage collector doing his rounds in the eastern corner of the backyard during early June spotted a bunch of bird feathers. Those feathers likely belong to a Mr. Jay Bird, reported missing two weeks earlier by his wife, according to politi officials. "At this time, we are looking into all possibilities," said Politi Inspector Jens Jensen. "What we know is the number of the feathers suggests very foul play. I don't think a bird could survive a night as cold as we've been having with that many feathers missing." "And yes, the feathers are grey, matching the coloration of the missing jay bird," he said. The inspector stopped short of saying the feathers belonged to Mr. Bird, who was reported missing the first week of May by his wife. He did note the feathers - both darker black and blue top feathers and fluffy little white undercoat feathers - were scattered in a 10-foot perimeter by the garden gate. There was no blood or body parts attached to the feathers, he said. Mrs. Bird notified authorities when her husband didn't return home after doing errands on June 2. According to the missus, her husband left mid-morning to gather some sticks to complete an improvement project on their nest and also pick-up a few worms for dinner. He didn't return home at all that night, and when she awoke the next morning, his side of the nest had not been slept in. That's when she filed the report. There has been some question about whether a disgruntled Mr. Bird voluntarily left after a domestic fight regarding the construction of the nest, which the couple has been building for the past two months. He also was subjected to constant nagging by the missus, whose voice has a shrill, chirpy, bone-rattling quality, according to a neighboring finch who did not disclose his name. "It's also been mighty cold recently. Add it all up and the gent just might have said 'enough is enough' and headed south," the anonymous finch said. |
