Spiritual freedom is freedom from the bondage of sin. Natural man is a slave to sin. He cannot choose to not sin. It controls every aspect of his life. The only way a man can have freedom from sin is to receive freedom as a free girt from Jesus Christ.

The penalty of sin is death. Jesus took the punishment for our sins upon Himself so that we can receive forgiveness for our sins. We can also receive eternal life from God because Jesus was punished and died for us. He paid the price that we, ourselves could not pay. Freedom is forgiveness of all of our sins and freedom from the penalty of sin, which is eternal death.

It doesn't stop there. Even though we have had all of our sins forgiven, we are still mortal men bound in slavery to sins' control of our life. Real spiritual freedom also frees us from the power of sin. Man cannot choose to stop sinning but when you are saved by Christ, He sends the Holy Spirit down from heaven to live in your heart. God's power working through the Holy Spirit can break the power sin has over you and God can change your life.

No, it's not easy, we are very weak, but I think the biggest problem isn't our weakness, it's our focus. We usually focus on our power, abilities, education and all of the tools we use every day to try to handle all of our problems.

God is more powerful than what man can even comprehend. If you have God, the most powerful being in the universe on your side, and you are both working for the same goal there is absolutely nothing that could ever stop you. All things are possible for God.

Really, all you have to do is trust in the power of Jesus' name and allow the Holy Spirit to lead and control you. You need to focus your mind on spiritual things. The battle ground is in your mind. If you stay focused on spiritual things and God's truth and power, you can have victory over sin. The battle has already been won. Jesus defeated the power of sin in every Christian's life when He died on the cross. Faith and the power of the Holy Spirit is the answer to just about all of the problems Christians face.
