how can I write
a simple poem
about you Tricia
I have so many
memories and thoughts
to choose from
each one I treasure
deep down in my
heart and soul
where only precious
friends are welcomed
to stay for as long
as they wish
I don't know
just why I'm
doing this but
perhaps it is
because you mean
so much to me
more than I can
possibly say
unlike the spoken
word that fades away
into the wind this
is eternal some where
in the universe
I think I'll begin
by mentioning just
how beautiful
you are to me
I could write
a thousand ifs
but I think you
know that I still love
you inside of my being
I can turn to you
anytime I need help
or support through
my many trials
you carry a calmness
which I can't explain
that guides me back
to a more level ground
so I can stand and face
what ever the problem is
I admire you Tricia
because of the spirit
inside your soul
one of deep concern
and mischievious prankster
one of a dedicated teacher
and master musician
who takes my dreams
and somehow turns
them into reality
whatever that means
you helped me to show
Donna just what
she means to me
and the depths of love
I feel for her
I can be myself
around you Tricia
and not worry about
anything I might say
being spred about
the ole Paul
is back right now
due partly to
your support
like you
I missed him
thanks for
resurrecting him
from the ashes

one more thought
I wasn't surprised
when you received
teacher of the year
I knew of your talents
and the abilities that you
have inside your being
even that means nothing
without your caring
and Tricia I'm so happy
that I know you
and that you are
my friend
