| Costa Rica 4 - Manuel Antonio | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| While we waited for our passports to be reissued in San Jose we decided to get a last taste of the beaches and beauty of Costa Rica and so, armed with only a police letter detailing our plight as idenfication, we headed to Manuel Antonio national park on the pacific coast to swim and hike and try to bake away our troubles. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| On the road to Manuel Antonio there is a restaurant built around the hull of a DC 10 that was to be delivered to the Contras in Nicaragua. It ended up mothballed in a hangar in San Jose when the Oli North and the Iran-Contra scandal broke in 1986. We didn't partake in any subversive operations but got to witness a great sunset. |

| The next day we hiked around the park to see some secluded beaches and climb some massive rocks and cliffs and stuff. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| On the hike we ran into some Monos (Monkeys). Most were cute and playful, but this angry looking little fellow was putting on a show for all the tourists...he did not dive into the garbage in the end. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| There was no show from the sloth, he just sat and ate, that is all. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| This picture took some work. It has 2 coinciding storylines. 1st, check out the crazy pirate couple in the back, the guy with the longstaff couldn't bare to put his sandy feet into his sandals (despite his rags he was really quite particular). Once his wife put her top back on, she was very obliging and brought him fresh sea water to wash the sand from his toes. The giant komodo dragon lizard in front has just got a whiff of our little picnic on the beach and seconds after this picture was taken came screaming across the sand at us. We put our clothes on and left shortly after...with sand in our shoes. |

| We ran and ran and ran and ended up at this lookout...there were more lizards up there, but they were friendly. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
