Costa Rica 3 - Playa Samara & (The Infamous) Playa Pelada
Casapagina
After the 5 hour odyssey accross the peninsula we ended up in Samara, a beach, more exposed to the rigourous surf of the Pacific Ocean.  The town itself gets most of its character (or lack thereof) from the burgeoning expat population and the wave of San Jose residents who flock there on weekends.  We spent a Few days in Samara and down the coast in Playa Carrillo daytripping to exploring the beaches and communities nearby.   It was in one of these beach communities, Playa Pelada, that we had everything stolen from our rental car.  It was a definetly a number of small errors that led to that disaster, but thanks to the helpful owners of the restaurant there and my Visa card we are now back on the road and can almost look back and laugh at it, soon maybe.  Anyhoo, here are some pictures of the southwestern tip of Nicoya.
The sunset on Playa Samara.
We finally found a campground worthy of our tent, then at 1am  it was descended upon by Tico Trash...we left the next day.
That next day we found the best beach in Costa Rica, Playa Pelada.  This picture is Me enjoying a beer at La Luna, a beautiful restaurant overlooking the beach.
La Luna - after we got robbed and realied we had absolutely no money to get back to San Jose with, the owners of this fancy joint (Marion & Angelina) fed us and put us up for the night...we slept under that balcony on the roof...until it poured rain for the first time in 4 months, then we slept on the floor of their apartment, which kinda upset the dog, but we where grateful.
Our 18th self take at La Luna, I was getting a little sick of the re-takes (where is Darryl when you need him)
It was really hot that day and my head started to get burnt.  I dont have an excuse for the handlebars.
The next day we rented horses.  Sarah's horse was a little sad, probably from the bloody scar behind its ear, so we headed back.
Back to Playa Pelada!  This is the view looking south from the point.
The view looking North from the point.
We figure this one was taken at the exact moment the thieves were unloading our Mochilas into their Green Vitara.  Doesn't Sarah look happy.
This was taken the exact moment Sarah was filling out her Passport application back in San Jose.  Doesn't Sarah look confused?
