Why an Appeal for Funds

Our Respected Brothers and Sisters, as stated previously we have received positive response on 6th October 2000 from the Central Government in response to the submission of our VAS proposal. With your Dua’s and help, Feversham College has become the first Muslim school in the UK to achieve this VAS, Alhamd-u-Lillah. The DfEE has agreed to fund 85% of the Total Capital Fund and expects the Muslim Association of Bradford to raise the remaining 15%. The Capital Cost includes purchasing building, cost of renovations and alterations, and costs of acquiring more resources necessary for teaching. Once the new college is fully functional, the full running costs will be met by the Bradford Local Education Authority (LEA).

The Total Capital Cost to make the new college functional has been projected at £6,000,000. The Central Government will fund £5,000,000 (85%) and the MAB need to raise the remaining £1,000,000. This clearly amounts to a lot of money needing to be raised. However, this is not just a Muslim Girl School project for us. As far as the MAB is concerned, this is fighting for the fundamental rights of all the Muslims in UK, a legal right denied to us so far, yet something that Christian and Jewish communities enjoy. You may like to know that there are over 7,000 Government funded private schools across UK for Christians, Catholics and Jewish communities, which have over 1.6 Million pupils studying in them. To date the Muslim community, which is the largest minority group in the UK, has not been afforded the same level of rights.

Alhamd-u-Lillah, Feversham College is the first Muslim Girl College in the UK to achieve VAS funding from the Government. This significant stride will open up the door for the remaining seventy plus (70+) Muslim Schools in the UK to achieve the same status. This will represent a major breakthrough for the Muslims of this country and will further enhance the development of Islam in the UK, in terms of sustaining and indeed propagating the Islamic faith. Make this the first Muslim Girl Secondary College in the UK to be recognised by the UK Government.

You have made this the first Upper Muslim Girls School in the UK to be recognised by the UK Government. Now, help it to become the first Upper Muslim Girls School in the UK to be fully operational. Our Respected Brothers and Sisters, we are grateful to you for the interest you share in our struggle and we hope that you will support our cause by making a kind donation towards it. We also hope that you will pray for the successful completion of this significant project, which is essential to the future development of Muslims in this country.

Please donate generously: every penny and pound counts

For every £1.00 you donate (our 15%), the DfEE will have to match this with £5.67 (their 85%).
