What do I need for my event?
Planning your event can involve lots of decisions, many of which you will know little about at the start. We can help you work out what type of marquee you need and what equipment you will need to put in it - just follow the guidelines below. If in doubt at anytime please contact us where we can talk through your requirements and arrange a site visit if necessary.

Step 1 - Where am I going to put the marquee?
Ideally you will have a big flat grassed area to position your marquee. If you can, measure the area you would like to use so you know the maximum size of marquee you can accommodate. If the marquee is on hardstanding then you will need to contact us so we can assess the suitability of the site. Our marquees do not have to be a rectangular - we can put 2 or more together to build almost any shape to fit the area you have if required.

Step 2 - How big a marquee do I need?

Size is important - you neither want it too big, or you can end up losing the party atmosphere - and obviously one too small could be a problem - but what is the right size?
Use the table below to determine a rough size based on the number of guests you expect to attend

Guests - all seatedAppropriate sizes of marqueesGuests - Some standing, some seatedAppropriate sizes of marquees
206m x 3m206m x 3m
406m x 6m , 12m x 3m406m x 6m, 12m x 3m
6010m x 6m608m x 6m
8012m x 6m8010m x 6m
10016m x 6m10012m x 6m, 12m x 3m
12018m x 6m12016m x 6m
14012m x 12m , 18m x 9m14018m x 6m

18018m x 12m18018m x 12m
20018m x 12m200+18m x 12m
Now you need to allow for additional space if you require some of the following:-

  • Stage area Allow a minimum of 6m x 3m of additional space if having a stage
  • Dance Floor Allow around 6m x 4m for a dance floor area.
  • Bar If you want a bar you'll need additional space, an area 6m x 3m is typical
  • Buffet Tables several tables and some surrounding space may be required if you are having a buffet. Again a space 6m x 3m should be sufficient
  • Cloakroom You may want a table, rail or area for people to put their coats and other paraphenalia
  • Present Table For a wedding or other celebration, an extra table to hold presents may come in handy
  • Entrance Porch An area to meet and greet your guests, provide shelter from the weather and provide an impressive entrance - a 3m x 2m marquee is ideal for this purpose.
  • Catering TentA seperate area or marquee can be handy for the caterers to prepare their food. A 6m x 3m tent is usually a good size

Add all of the above together to get a total size (GCSE level maths and a calculater might be handy here! - although you can of course call us and we'll help.)

Or maybe what you need is one (or more) or our Capri marquees - stylish, innovative, different, and very reasonably priced. Use either as an open canopy for hot sunny days, or fully enclosed for more inclement weather...

80+2 (or more) Capri tents joined together

Step 3 - What configuration of marquee do I need?

Now you have a total size of marquee from step 2 - you just need to work out how big a marquee is needed. Usually a standard rectangular one will do - if however you have an odd shaped area to position the marquee or you just fancy having different configurations of marquees to build your event venue in several attached but seperate areas (which can add even more 'wow' to your event) you can now use your imagination to come up with the configuration you need.

Step 4 - What about something to put in the marquee?
Ok So you've got your marquee - but what else do you need?
Listed below are some of the items we do supply - but if you have any special requirements just let us know as we have contacts with many other suppliers in the events industry and we'll try and source something for you - all part of the service...

  • Matting

Sandy coloured woven matting to give luxurious look and feel to the floor. Ideal for all surfaces to protect your grass and cover up unsightly areas.
  • Roof Drapes

Although our marquees look fine as they are - if you really want to add a touch of class to your event then the roof drapes soften up the whole marquee. As well of ivory we can also supply different colours, often best mixed with the ivory to give a 'candy stripe' effect - contact us for details of colours available.
  • Hard Floor
If you want areas of hard floor for your marquee then we can also supply this as well, can be used as a stage area, dance floor, or whatever you need a hard floor for.
  • Lighting

Add some ambient lighting with these low wattage globe lights hung from the roof. They are out of the way and provide an ideal subtle lighting for an evening event.
  • Heating

Take the chill out of a cool summer evening by hiring some of 1.2kw halogen heaters. Mounted up high for safety.
Having an event in spring or autumn? Then you may want to hire marquee heaters ducted into the marquee. Contact us for fore infomation.
  • Tables & Chairs

We supply either 6ft by 2ft 6" rectangular tables or 5ft diameter round tables which can be used with or without table cloths. Our chairs are a stylish silver with black padded seats and backs - practical & comfortable
  • Dance Floor

Now we're talking - how about hiring our wooden parquet dance floor, available in a 3m x 4m or 4m x 4m size.
  • Stage We ourselves do not supply raised stages - but most of our clients are happy to use a hard floored area which can be used as a practical alternative. Typically this would be 16ft x 8ft

Step 5 - What else might I need?
We obviously don't know all the services and equipment you will need for your event - but here's some ideas and links that might be useful...

  • Wedding & Party Planners - The Wedding Party
  • Loo Hire
  • Generator Hire
  • Catering, Flowers & Table dressing
  • Bar Services
