Frequently Asked Questions

We list here some frequently asked questions and points of interest about hiring our marquees.

1. What surfaces can you put a marquee on?
Normally we can only put our marquees on grass or ground capable of taking a 50cm stake. Will not put a marquee wholly on hard standing. In certain circumstances, if notified prior to the event, a small area may be placed on a patio or similar subject to our approval.
2. I have uneven ground - does this matter?
Uneven ground can cause us a few problems in 2 areas :-
a) Uneven surface makes it difficult to lay dance floors and hard floors which obvioulsy require to be (reasonably) level. Although we will always undertake to insure do this, it may result in an additional charge for these items.
b) If we are laying matting in uneven groud we have to be careful of creating trip hazards. It will be your responsibility to fill in any of the more dangerous dips and holes prior to us laying the matting.
I hope this doesn't put you off - we have sucessfully undertaken many jobs on uneven ground - but only fair to point out some of the risks/issues to you
3. How watertight are your marquees?
It would be easy to say our marquees are watertight - however we have to point out that stopping water entering any building is a complex and expensive job (ask any builder!). The lovely British weather (such as it is) throws at us from time some some very challenging scenarios for us to battle against - and I like to think we do pretty well all things considered. However in heavy rain, and where ground doesn't soak up the water quickly, water maybe collect in pools - which can then seep under the marquee making the flooring wet.
4. Can we attach the marquee to a building?
Subject to the 'hardstanding issue' (question 1 above) we can normally get the marquee close to a building. We adopt a 'bet endeavours' policy in these cases - where we will try to get as good a seal as we can but not guaranteed a watertight join.
5. What about ladies with stiletto heels?
Where this is a concern we always recommend you have our matting. This is a close woven material that will support all known types of heel. However if the underlying ground is soft or uneven there will obviously be a little give in the flooring, but we have never yet found this to be a problem.
