His Divine Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj is the present divine successor of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. He born on 7th of December of 1921 (Magshar Sud Atham) in a small village of Gujarat - Chansad.

His childhood name was Shantilal. From very early age, Shantilal was of very highly devotional nature. He even stood first in His school always. It was the divine radiation among Him that was separating Him from others. His guru Shastriji Maharaj recognised His divine potentiality and called Him to become a sadhu. Within no time, this young boy, Shantilal accepted this order and left His home for lifetime to serve the guru.

After getting the diksha from Shastriji Maharaj, Shantilal was given a new name "Sadhu Narayanswaroopdas". Which literally means a saint who is a form of Lord.

This young Sadhu Narayanswaroopdas was becoming more and more favourite of His guru by His bhakti and faith towards God and Guru. Then, at one day, Shastriji Maharaj declared Sadhu Narayanswaroopdas as His successor as a President of BAPS. From that day, he became known as Pramukh Swami. At that day, Sadhu Narayanswaroopdas took an oath before His Guru that He will sacrifice Himself to preserve the garden of BAPS planted by Him (Shastriji).

From that date, Pramukh Swami has never looked back. He has served the BAPS without caring for His own health, body and time. Even today, at the age of 86, He is the most active saint in the whole organisation! This can be possible only than when God is joined with one's work.

He is a best pal for children, a true guide for youngsters, a problem solver for middle age persons and a sole support for the elders. Everyone experiences the bliss of God and peace within His Company. For the betterment of people, this saint has visited more than 15000 villages, more than 2,50,000 Homes and has written answers to the problems of people by more than 5,00,000 letters. Pramukh Swami holds the Guinness Book World Record to build the highest number of temples (more than 450). The Akshardhams created by him at Delhi, Gandhinagar and Lonodn are unique wonder of the world. The biggest speaking proof of His divine sainthood is more than 770 saints of BAPS who voluntarily left their homes, big degrees, wealth and everything only to serve their guru - HDH Pramukh Swami Maharaj.

The reason behind all this is - realisation of God. Many devotees have attained the eternal peace under His direction and many are.
