An Introduction

BAPS - Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha is a socio-spiritual organisation working across the globe. It was founded by Shastri Yajnapurushdasji, (Shastriji Maharaj) on the basis of our ancient Vedic knowledge in 1907. Its roots lies way back 225 years when Bhagwan Swaminarayan took birth on this earth to give His principal of Akshar Purushottam. Not only religious activities, it also aims at providing solutions to social or moral problems of current world.

The activities of BAPS covers development of each class of the society - from children to youth to women and to the elder persons. The Sanstha has received many awards for its work. It has also got affiliation of United Nations.

It has over 9,090 centers worldwide, over 650 temples, more than a million devotees and 55,000 volunteers who contribute 12 million hours of service annually to the society.

By building unique cultural complexes like Akshardham in Delhi and Gandhinagar, Shri SWaminarayan Mandirs in Houston, Chicago and London; and its international festivals, Sanstha has awakened the sense of spirituality and morality in the society. Currently, it is working under the able guidance of Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
