Benedictine to Host Relay for Life in April

Relay for Life began in May 1985 when Dr. Gordy Klatt came up with the idea to raise more money for his local American Cancer Society office. He raised $27,000 circling the track with his friends for 24 hours. The next year, 19 teams took part in the first team relay event and raised $33,000. Since then, the event has grown significantly across the country and now across the world. The Relay for Life is now held in more than 20 countries around the world.
