Benedictine to Host Relay for Life in April

Though the event is open to anyone who wishes to participate, many of Benedictine's student body realize the importance of events like this. "My grandfather is a cancer survivor twice," sophomore Justin Trombetta said. "With events like the Relay for Life raising money for cancer research, we will hopefully find better ways to treat and destroy cancer."
At last year's Relay for Life, Benedictine raised $71,000 and had 63 teams show up. They also had 25 survivors in attendance. This year they are looking to improve on last year's numbers. They are looking to raise $80,000 and have 91 teams with 30 survivors in attendance. Teams are usually made up of students from Benet Academy, Benedictine University, along with faculty and staff, as well as many members of the Lisle community.
