Getting into the Brigand's Lair
There are two ways into the lair. First, go to where the antwerp is: which
is 2 screens east of the Dryad, then one south. Attack the antwerp, and it
will jump off the screen. Go one screen east, and prepare your weapon. When
the antwerp is about to land on you, use your weapon. Anyway, strong characters
should continue on the path east to the brigand's lair. Other characters should
go the hidden way. It's entrance is a large rock left of where the antwerp
was. If you followed the notes at the tavern or met up with the brigands on
Day 12 at mid-afternoon at the archery range, you'll have the key and password.
Thief skilled characters can pick the lock with the tool kit and magic users
can cast open. Once open, say the password if you know it - you won't have
to fight the troll, but if you do, dazzle works well. In the EGA version,
you can get his treasure on the far west side of the cave. If you didn't have
to fight him when you entered, you will now if you want the treasure. When
you're done, head south east. You will find yourself behind a bush, with Toro
pacing about. To get past him, you can either fight him, cast calm or sneak
past him. Climb the wall on the upper right side of the screen.
Inside the Brigand's Lair
Be careful! See that wire on the right side of the screen between the spiky
logs? Click the look icon so your hero knows it's there and can step over
it. Cross the pit on the right-side bridge, and notice another wire near the
top middle of the screen. Enter the door at the top. Close the door behind
you and wait. When you see the brigands peek in the door you just closed and
turn around, move the chair on right side of the screen to cover that door.
Position yourself on the right side of the large candelabra. When the three
brigands reach the middle of the table, push over the candelabra. When they
turn back and are at the far end of the table, jump up on the table, then
grab the rope. Enter the top north west door.
