We are, of course, Pack 349 of the Sequoyah District in the Occoneechee Council. We have been with our charter organization: New Hope Baptist Church since 1970. There are about 40 boys in our pack and we are constantly growing.

We meet most weeks at the church (please see the schedule). If you would like to join please come in and sign up. The more boys in the pack the stronger we are. We also need volunteers. So, if you come by to sign up your boy, think of signing yourself up too. Any level of help is needed and MUCH appreciated!

"The purpose of the Boy Scouts of America as incorporated February 8, 1910, and chartered by Congress in June 1916, is to provide for boys and young adults an effective educational program designed to build desirable qualities of character; to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship; and to develop personal fitness. Mighty serious business, all done in the spirit of fun.

For more than sixty-five years the Boy Scouts of America has helped younger boys through Cub Scouting. It is a year-round family program designed for boys who are in first grade through fifth grade (or 7, 8, 9, 10 years of age). Parents, leaders, and organizations work together to achieve the following:

  • Influence the development of character and encourage spiritual growth.
  • Develop habits and attitudes of good citizenship.
  • Encourage good sportsmanship and pride in growing strong in mind and body.
  • Improve understanding within the family.
  • Strengthen the ability to get along with other boys and respect other people.
  • Foster a sense of personal achievement by developing new interests and skills.
  • Show how to be helpful and do one's best.
  • Provide fun and exciting new things to do.
  • Prepare them to become Boy Scouts.

These are the purposes of Cub Scouting. Activities planned by leaders and enjoyed by boys relate to one or more of these purposes. These purposes help us achieve the overall aim of the Boy Scouts of America. We are proud of Cub Scouting and what it offers to young people and their families. We believe you will feel the same way as you begin to see just what it's all about." Taken from the Cub Scout leader book ©1997 Should I get involved?
