


The authorities are supposed to help people in need. However, sometimes they hurt or destroy kids. Those authorities include missionaries, who appear to be friends, or people who offer to help children in distress.
In some cases, hotlines are run by those who do not have the proper skills, training, experience, or tact. They may do more harm than good.
People who use these professional counseling services sometimes mistakenly feel that they should be embarrassed.
Shandeh may be able to help in some of these cases.
In the past, Rabbis dealt with these problems, possibly with the assistance or advice of a trusted friend. Today, our collective knowledge and information can provide a resource for the centers themselves to that we can work together with Rabbis and other professionals. It can also help those who visit or contact these centers to help each other.
We hope that you or your loved ones will never have to use these centers or hotlines as a client. However, if you do find a need, we can help you can make the most worthwhile and informed decision. You can benefit from other experiences, ideas, and suggestions. You aren't the only victim of these situations.
As with most other facilities, it is important to select the right crisis center or hotline.
Unfortunately, it is often difficult to obtain the information that is needed in order to make a qualified judgment. Even a recommendation by a trusted friend, Rabbi, or other professional may not be based on an intimate knowledge of the institutions. Furthermore, any individual�s success may be only as good as their own personal caretaker. With so many services available in major Jewish population centers, how can one know which one to choose � especially during a time of stress?
