Jewish Leadership relates to a wide range of issues, as follows:

• Administrative issues relating to Jewish leadership and organizations, irrelevant of their direction or viewpoint
  • Recruiting and fostering good people to run Jewish organizations
  • Developing organizations
  • Helping organizations grow
• Evaluations of the quality of any particular Jewish or Israeli administrative system
• Personal, non-offensive, apolitical opinions about Jewish leadership
• Future leadership (Dor Hemshech)
• Methods and styles of Jewish leadership
• Examples of leadership from Jewish organizations may be presented, with the following caveats:
  • It should not reveal the name or identifying features of the organization
  • It should not reveal confidential information about that organization
  • It cannot embarrass any present or past employees
  • It should include examples of good management of Jewish organizations
• Interpersonal issues
  • Rebuilding the Jewish organization after a crisis or tragedy
  • Replacing a board member after a sudden death
  • Dealing with observant and non-observant members of the board or congregants (discussions of Orthodox vs. non-orthodox issues take place on The Other Shul)
  • Dealing with a power struggle
  • Dealing with congregants who want to eat kosher food while others want to save money
  • Firing of personnel such as a librarian or public relations agent
  • Dealing with accusations of unfairness
  • Balancing the members of a Board
    • Men and women
    • Different age groups
    • Balancing representatives of other constituent groups in the organization
  • Asking a Jewish board member to resign
• Problems facing the organization itself
  • Maintaining the organization after a crisis such as a fire
  • Responding to anti-Semitic attacks on the organization from outsiders
  • Dealing with lost membership after a competing Jewish organization opens in a nearby location (hassagat gvul)
  • Bugetary limitations or restrictions
  • The advisability of hiring a public relations agent
  • The viability of outsourcing
  • Legislative issues
