"I must follow the people. Although Jews should be a beacon to the world, we are limited in our potential. To achieve our goals, we need leadership, but our Jewish leadership is facing a crisis.
We have a history of great leaders throughout our illustrious and glorious past, yet we often wonder why today's leadership is so weak and fragmented.
Indeed, it sometimes seems that nothing is being done to foster Jewish unity. Most Jews will agree to the theoretical necessity for unity – but only if everybody joins them and accepts their point of view. We reject this approach - which is why we do not include political issues in our discussions.
Rather than criticizing this sad and frustrating situation, we now have a possible means to resolve some of the problem in a serious manner.
Our Jewish Leadership Forum offers the leaders of all Jewish organizations the opportunity to evaluate the issues that are common to all Jewish organizations, institutions, and affiliated bodies.
And there are many of those issues. Our Jewish institutions today are faced with less funding but more vital needs. The Jewish nation and the future of the Jewish nation faces a crucial time. We do need to work together - now more than ever.
That is what the Jewish Leadership group is all about.
