| The Unreachable Item in Kalm This is how to get the item in one of the cabinets on the second floor of the inn in Kalm. It appears to be very hard to get, but there is actually a very simple way to get it. You have to attempt to open the cabinet five times in a row, and Cloud will finally swear and kick the cabinet so that the item falls out. It's a Megalixir, which can be very useful early in the game. While we're still in Kalm, there are two other things to point out: One of the houses has a chest that says "Locked..." when you try to open it. Other houses have similar chests but no messages. This one in particular doesn't seem to be polygon chest like the others, either, as if it is just part of the background. I don't believe these were ever intended to be opened in the first place. If you go up to the tower in the third house from the left (not counting the Inn), you can go to the window and look outside, for a view of Kalm... Fast 'n' Easy GP Every once in a while, a man would be standing by the house all the way in the background of the entrance to the Gold Saucer. He's literally right next to the house. If you look there, you'll be able to tell if there's a person there or not - he stands out, much like other polygonal characters of the game. If you go back there and talk to him, he'll offer to sell you 1 GP for every 100 Gil. However, you can only select GP ten at a time, with a max of 100 (that would be 10,000 Gil). Is it worth it? It is, for some fast GP. A hundred is an awful lot. However, you might want to think twice before spending 10,000 Gil. The game I was playing had over a million, so I had no trouble with wasting cash. If you happen to be really GP-hungry, a better way of getting it is to go race Chocobos. A few other side notes - previously I heard that you have to have a Golden Ticket for unlimited passes to the Gold Saucer. I don't know if owning one is required for this trick to work, or simply because with a Golden Ticket it is easier to walk in and out of the entrance to find the man without having to pay each time. However, it is also possible to see the man when entering the area via the sky lift. |
