21. Room Representatives
    - A Room Representative for each homeroom
     - Be the key link in intraschool communication
     - Push membership
     - Communicate benefits and goals of PTSA at Osborne
     - Solicit Volunteers
     - Communicate language barriers in classes or homes
     - Communicate special needs of classses
     - Promote contests in classes
     - Provide support for teacher when requested
This initiative had some challenges in trying to implement, in that this type of assistance was more traditionally thought of as an elementary school effort. However, about 50% of the homerooms did get at least one Room Representative and to varying degrees met with success utilizing this approach. The lessons learned from this past year will prove very beneficial in helping establish the framework of the efforts for this upcoming year. By all means, you can return as a Room Representative for your student's class this year, taking what you learned specifically for that class and enhancing it for the 2001-2002 school year. Thanks to all of the people who took the initiative to plow this new ground at Osborne. It was appreciated by many.

22. Reflections
     - Develop a plan and work with the Osborne staff to build the theme of Reflections into their curriculum where practical
     - Advertise Reflecctions program throughout the school and the PTSA newsletter
     - Set of goal of 20% of the school participating in this ever growing project at Osborne
This initiative meet with a great deal of success this year. Many more students participated in the Reflections program and some of the teachers included it as part of their curriculum. Osborne also hosted the Jesse Coleman Council Reflections Reception honoring the winners at the Council level, of which Osborne was well represented.

23. Walkabouts
-Volunteers would be at and around the school initally at the beginning and ending of the school day, providing positive behavior modeling, suggesting the same to the students and reporting violations to the appropriate party.

The activity that was developed for this initiative, did pay off. Surrounding neighbors reported improved behavior by the Osborne students. In addition, Dr. Davidson was able to secure from the county a parking lot attendent to concenctrate on the student traffic in the parking lots. This takes a degree of committment and it is hoped that this will be enhanced this year.

24. Website

     - Develop PTSA portion of website
     - Develop booster organization's and Partner's in Education portion of website
     - Work with school personnel to complete the Osborne website
     - Set high standards and manintain the site

Reading this, indicates that progress were made in this area. The PTSA does have a presence on the web and this coming year will utilize it more fully. The school website has been developed thanks to a web based design class offered the Spring semester. The effectiveness of any information in such as medium as the internet, stays viable through maintenance and it is hoped that we will be able to get some volunteers to help with this aspect in the upcoming year.

25. Work with Student Council
     - Work with Student Council to develop leadership and role modeling
     - Assist in organizing projects in and outside the school (examples: inside- homecoming door decorating contests, floats, parade, fun day after game, develop character education awards for individuals or classes that exhibit great behavior and voted on by students, develop a line of cardinal spirit wear and wear it yourself promoting the pride in the school, its facilities and people, establish a forum to bring suggestions/praise/concerns from the students to the administration in a respectful and organized fashion . outside - Muscular Dystrophy telethon volunteer, work with OPTF, work with Osborne Alumni Club, start a nearly new clothing closet for people to come and get clothes.

This initiative was modified in the absence of a Student Council to work with the Senior Graduation Committee to secure the World Congress Center for graduation. Many leadership traits were developed through business plans, fiscal responsibility, and implementation that ended in success. A variety of sub committees were formed, the administration was tied in and offered advice and the students learned to set a high goal and what all it took to achieve such. Thanks to all who spent over 1000 hours in support ot this project.

The Osborne PTSA had a successful year making progress on over 70% of the initatives, some obviously to a greater extent than others. The efforts provided invaluable feedback to use for this upcoming year. Our thanks to the officers, committee chairpersons, Osborne Staff, and the community for their collective efforts. You met the challenge head on, stepped forward, stumbled sometimes, picking up again and the result was favorable for our students. The data collected will be used to develop, refine, and enhance the programs from last year and to work with the new administration to continue to 'Open A New Window' toward becoming the school's premiere Partner in Education.
