16. Multi-Cultural Day/Week
    - Develop a program where by at least all cultures represented regularly at Osborne are visible and experienced by the students. This will include native dress, food, artifacts, photos, guest speakers, literary style, customs, forms of money, and government styles
    - Work with school personnel to include in curriculum or menus where practical
Althugh not able to produce a program on our own, we were able to assist with the Multi-Cultural Fair put on by Mr. Terry Watson, and the Osborne Prevention Task Force. This was a great event and they did a tremendous job for the first year. Looking forward to doing more with them and other staff members in this area this year.

17. Prevention / Intervention
     - Develop a series of events spread throughout the year to assist students in making healthy lifestyle choices involving alcohol and illicit drugs
     - Explore unique ways to demonstrate the danger of drinking and driving
     - Look for ways for our students to help teach others about healthy lifestyle choices
This effort took a different approach and we worked with the Cobb County Prevention Intervention and school staff to develop seminars on leadership and mentoring in support of one of the above activities. This was a good building block, but the implementation of the rest of theactivities were not accomplished to any significant extent.

18. Programs
     - For the non open house PTSA meetings, solicit ideas to be appealing to a large percentage of the community - setting a goal of at least 20% of the people at Osborne in attendance at these meetings.
     - For all PTSA meetings develop auxillary activities for the meetings (example food, band chorus, drama, construction display, skits etc.)
Were successful this year in developing a program in December, entitled Home for the Holidays which showcased the performaing art students at Osborne. This is the only time where all the performing art classes had the opportunity to perform on stage during the same evening. The meeting was conducted during the stage changes required keeping the total time of the evening to a minimum. There was a full meal offered prior to the meeting that was free with PTSA membership. This event brought out approximately 300 people which was almost to the 20% goal stated. This is hoped to be an annual event with more participation in the upcoming year. A similar type of meeting is hoped to be arranged in the Spring of 2002.

19. Public Relations

    - Gather information from various sources in the school about positive happenings and either get or take photos and document these for newsletter or outside publication.
     - Establish contacts with the Marietta Daily Journal and Cobb Extra papers and submit articles
     - Establish contacts with local radio stations to see which ones allow for free advertisements of happenings at Osborne and their procedures of submittal
     - Establish contacts with the Osborne Prevention Task Force, OPTF, the Osborne Alumni Club and any home owner's association in the area and provide positive information about Osborne and request help from them.
     - Establish contacts with local Realtors in the area and provide positive information about Osborne
There were several of these activities that were accomplished this year. Numerous articles, and a feature article on the PTSA at Osborne was printed in the Marietta Daily Journal. Information was gathered about postivie things at OHS and presented at School Board Meetings. Contacts with the OTPF, and Alumni Club were made and sustained throughout the year. It was a great building year, and one where this next year can provide more fruits for the labor expended.

20. QUEST / Academic Booster Club
     - Continue to expand on this successful program celebrating academic achievement
     - Look for ways to more broadly communicate the only student led academic bolstering organization in the county
     - Explore ways to fund projects
     - Explore the most cost effective way to offer SAT prep courses
     - Develop a stakeholder tutoring program to assist students who desire such assistance

This intiative continued to grow during the past year. The untiring efforts of the students themselves continue to delight people. They again were able to negotiate cards for students who had achieved academic success that provided them discounts at local merchants. Impoved performance in the classroom also continued to be rewarded. The academic assemblies continued to grow in excitement and enjoyment for those involved. The school was able to offer a SAT prep course. This next year will focus on sustaining the momentum and pursuing additional tutoring activites. The school is also focusing on this, working out arrangemnts with increased in school tutroring through various means.
