Purpose

As Christians, we share the Bible and our lives with people in full assurance that the Holy Spirit will draw them closer to Christ.  As we work with and encourage local Christians in Osaka, Japan, we will evangelize by exposing the Japanese to Christianity, leading Bible studies, developing the new church, strengthening relationships, and mentoring new Christians.

Vision

Our primary goal is to develop and mentor a young professionals group.  The new generation is looking for change.  Through them, we see the potential to strengthen the church in ways that will have a long term impact on the spread of Christianity in Japan.

Vision for our young professionals ministry:

Worship times and Bible studies:
-Small group Bible classes in English,
-one-on-one Bible studies,
-college campus Bible study,
-weekly Bible study for strengthening the mission team,
-prayer and worship night once monthly,
-prayer groups (as interest builds).

Fellowship and Outreach activities:
-monthly large group entertainment,
-monthly large group potlucks,
-weekly dinners in our homes hosting Japanese nationals,
-occasional guys/gals night out (bowling, movies, mini-golf...)
-bi-annual retreat,
-service/social welfare activities.

While the young professionals are our primary focus group, we also feel called to outreach to and through children.  The familial structure in Japan directs that children influence the family activities greatly.  We hope to draw the children to Jesus and pray that families will follow.  Because children to not speak English, our children's outreach and ministry will begin after we have spent sufficient time in language acquisition (through the LAMP program).

Children's Outreach and Ministry
-Children's VBS and/or English classes with Biblical curriculum,
-develop a children's program in conjunction with Sunday worship times,
-volunteer in classrooms,
-monthly junior high and high school outreach activities,
-provide supervision national and the seven missionary children in order to allow time for missionary parents to minister to Japanese parents one-on-one.

Our final area of vision is for the Church Community:
-enhance Sunday worship through participation and leadership,
-bring outside contacts to worship service,
-equip Japanese Christians to function as a Biblical church body.

Stateside:
-provide American churches with an opportunity to serve in a foreign mission field and therefore gain excitement for evangelism.

Language Acquisition:
-Intensive language study through the LAMP (Language Acquisition Made Practical) method,
-Work with a Japanese national as a language partner.
