A fight with a demon brings
Xander's hyena back to the foreground. Since an exorcism is too dangerous,
Giles and Willow bind the soul and the hyena, merging them into one. To
Xander, the Scoobies are Pack. Riley and a chipped Spike aren't, except
that Xander now wants Spike for a mate. Again with the fanon cliche of a
convenient demon encounter side effect jump-starting the plot. The writer
takes her time after that, moving through the plot and taking care to
develop the characters; that kind of writing redeems cheesy plot
gimmicks. |

It's all about the cliche.
Spike is gang-raped, Xander saves him and takes him home to help him get
past it. Somewhere along the line, between Spike saving Xander, Xander
choosing Spike over the Scoobies, Spike getting tagged by a demon that's
got vamp-aphrodisiac for venom, and Xander's past as a sexually abused
child, they fall in luuuuuuuuurve. If it wasn't for the attention to plot
development and the development of the characters and
relationship.... |

Xander slips from one
alternate reality to another, meeting various incarnations of the Scoobies
and Angel's crew in realities that turn out different from his own. He
picks up a wounded but getting stronger Spike along the way. For the third
webpage in the set, you have to type in the .html part of the URL unless
it's been fixed. Strong characterization and beaucoup interesting reality
dips. The Xander-Sue is a bit much at times and the non-necessary yet
graphically described sex can get skim-worthy. Quantum Xander 2 links
through the end of QZ1. |

A newly chipped Spike moves
in with Xander in the Basement O' Doom. Xander manages to develop a crush,
despite himself. Xander's acting weird, the Scoobies are keeping an eye on
him, and Spike quickly wises up. A nice homoerotic rewrite of Season 4
onward. |

Angel, now Angelus, has gone
missing. A newly souled Spike sets out to find him, and find discovers
that Angelus is still psychotic and still the ultimate Master. Cordelia
thinks she can put the soul back. Spike and Angel, together again.
It's dark and the writer takes her time to make it work. Though it drags
in places, it's still enough to keep you hooked. |

The Initiative has taken over
on a global scale and they've turned on everyone that's not what they
consider human or who sympathizes with whatever it is they consider not
human. Xander and Spike, like others, are captured and experimented on.
They, along with another vampire and a demon, manage to escape in the
confusion of an attack by the Resistance and try to keep building a life
from there.I generally don't like this writer's stories because they
involve the boys getting turned into things like tigers or trees and
loving the existence. This one was a real tear-jerker and not badly done,
either. There are some formatting errors and the language wasn't authentic
in a lot of places; which was only a problem because I kept getting jerked
out of the narrative. |

Five years after deserting
Sunnydale during Glory the Hellgod's turn at an apocolypse, Xander turns
up in LA. Wolfram & Hart take an interest in the healing powers he has
and he needs help, whether he likes it or not, and Angel decides he's just
the vamp to do it. There's some fundamental weaknesses in the plot that
had me rolling my eyes, mostly with backstory not quite living up to the
hype---kudos for not giving into the melodrama on that, though---and there
was serious anticlimactic vibage going on for the last half of the story.
While not extremely emasculating, some of the romantic angsting running
around was repetitive enought be girly. Basic writing talent equals
redemption though, baby. Great work with individual scenes and most of the
work with character. |

Xander moved to LA just after
Buffy came to Sunnydale and all hell broke loose. Six years later,
bartender Xander runs into Angel and his crew. Wolfram & Hart have a
plot going to take over the world, as usual, and Xander teams up with
Angel Investigations to stop them. The Scoobies come in to help.
Eventually, Xander and Angel deal with their developing relationship, too.
The action and writing are well paced and developed. The evil plot is
novel and the original characters are an asset. There are times, though,
when you can tell she wrote a scene for the same reason stereotypical men
watch beer commercials. Rather than showcasing Xanders, um, yeah, it
detracts from the story as a whole. I'd wonder what she was thinking, but
it's really obvious. |

Graham and Riley are called
back to Sunnydale when the area destabilizes. When they return, they
discover there are new factors in lives of the Scooby Gang, especially in
Xander and Spike's. The addition of Graham is novel and interesting. The
characters are mostly well done, though internal monologues
abound. |

A chipped Spike takes care of
a broken and dying Xander after his father abused him. The rest of
Scoobies, who've mostly ignored Xander, eventually get around to noticing
Xander's absence and decide that Spike took him for nefarious reasons.
Despite the overabundance of this type of plot in any realm of
fiction writing, this one might have been a good one if not for the
rampant melodrama. She took her time to work the characters and make a
believable situation. |

Xander is stuck in a time
loop ala Stargate SG-1: Window of Opportunity. The problem? Each
time the loop starts with a naked Spike, and Xander is so not gay. Well,
at least not the first time. Or the second. Though it does feel kind of
good. Sort of. Okay, a lot good. I have to admit that despite how
good the writing was and how utterly delightful Xander's voice was, I did
end up skimming a little. |

This is the extra wonderful
sequel to It's Just a Jump to the Left. Xander wants more from the
Big Bad than friendship. Spike says it's just sex. Xander never actually
told Spike about everything that happened in the time loop, heh heh. Oops.
The characters were excellent, the writing was superb enough that I never
noticed any mistakes, if there were any. The tension in the relationship
was powerful enough to keep me wondering how it would all work out. The
downside? It ended. |
