Even then they tried to reason with the unreasonable settlers who found
themselves no match for the war genius of the swarthy natives of the sacred
land of Lenabe, which later became known as America. Seeing that they were no
match for the Lenabe, the settlers joined forces with some of the Indian
tribes and conjured a plan of intrigue and deception against the Lenabe
people. They offered to settle a
continental peace treaty, yet all the while they schemed to overthrow the
rightful authorities of the land by causing infractions and other
disturbances of the peace until finally the land was running up to the knees
in blood shed and the people were confused by deception. No one could trust
the other and everyone was working to take control of the Indigenous Turtles
as the Lenni Lenabe called themselves. The world is divided into two kinds of human
beings according to the original people snakes and turtles, the snake people
are very sly, and deceptive, the turtles are very honest and loyal. The snake will pretend to live like the
turtle but he lacks the turtle’s honest intent. Colonial Times During colonial times the foreigners mispronounced the name Lenni Lenabe
and called them Renni Renape and Lenni Lenape. Later they called them Delaware Indians in
spite of the protest of the people against the names. Many Lenabe were taken into slavery and
classified as negroes. They were encouraged to marry into the African races
in order to rid the land of any true indigenous blood that could lay claim to
the land in the future. The English, French, and Irish also mixed in with
them in order to dilute and pollute the original bloodline. Those who were
mixed with the European blood either called themselves Renni Renape or Lenni
Lenape styling themselves after the mispronunciation of Lenabe or they called themselves Delaware.
They also called themselves Indians, which again was/is not the true name of
the original people. This caused many
of the original Lenabe to go underground in an effort to protect and preserve
their cultural history and identity. The Lenabe culture
The Lenabe culture is a living culture and it is considered a relative
to all Lenabewak (plural for Lenabe) there are many celebrations, ceremonies,
and rituals in the culture of these original people. There are many contributions to the
culture, which serves to enrich the lives of the people. It is a spiritual culture that focuses not
only on life on earth but also in the indigenous sky worlds. The elders hand this knowledge down to the
youth and the youth once matured also hands it down to their children and
thus they do continuously. The Language of the Lenabe The language of the Lenabe is not Algonquian as is commonly believed but
rather it is Lenabe named after the people who speak it. It is according to them alive even as they
are alive. Algonquian is not the name
of a people it is the name of an event.
It means those who crossed over the waters. This is referring to the landmass when
pieces of the land had broken apart and sunk beneath the deep blue sea never
to be seen again. THIS IS LENABE WISDOM... |
