12/29/2002 I woke up at 9:30, looked at the blank face of my watch, and realized that after 4 years of hard use, even Timex batteries die. So today started off an hour and a half late. It was my job this morning to set up the car seat, after cleaning the car. Living in a beach town does lead to a lot of sand in strange places in the car. So, even though I don't have a degree in engineering, I managed to figure out the seat. Now we can take her home tomorrow afternoon!
After finishing the seat, I rode my bike to the clinic to see the mother and child. They were just dandy! Kylie apparently cried a bit during the night, but when Mayuho held her, she quieted right down. I got there just in time for the 2:00 feeding! Hooray! And, I got to do it all! Well, except for the breastfeeding part. But I took charge, checked her diaper (dry), and after she had nursed for a while, I gave her the bottle of formula that I had prepared, I burped her, and checked her diaper (full, kinda looked like creamed corn!) and changed it, and cuddled her for a while. I wish I had known how nice it feels, we would have made one sooner!
I had to zip off to work for a while then, but I was back to say goodnight and hold her again for a little while before getting back home around 8:00ish. I am so excited about tomorrow! Speaking of, I should do a bit of cleaning up to prepare for that! |
