| Secchi disc is a disc used to measure the transparency of the water by observing the depth at which the disc can not be seen. It is usually a white disc about 30 centimeters in diameter. It is lowered into the water until it disappears from view. The measure of the depth can be determined by the average attenuation of light. It can disappear anywhere form 2-3 meters to 20-30 meter depending on the visibility of the water. |

| A dredge can come in all different sizes, there are a lot of different kinds and it can be used for many different things. It's main purpose is to dig up rock, mud, minerals, ect., and sort it. It divides the stuff that you want to keep form the stuff you want to dispose of. There are different ones for varied depths, form small lakes and rivers to the deepest parts of the ocean. It can separate all different things, from gold to special types of minerals. To me, it's a huge filter. |
