Simple Explosives

High Velocity Sling Shot

What you need:

- 2 thick tent pegs

- a welder

- handle (from a garden tool or a file)

- bench grinder or a file

- some very strong glue

- flat-head screwdriver

Method:

1. Bend the top parts (the angled bit you hit with a hammer) of the tent pegs up to a 90 angle.

2. Hold the two pegs together (parallel) and clamp them sideways in a vice and weld them together. Start from the bottom (the end that goes in the ground normally) and weld half way up. Click here for a diagram.

3. Let it cool then turn it over and weld the other side in the same manner.

4. When it cools again grind off any excess welding with the grinder. This is so it fits into the handle.

5. Remove the original implement from the handle you have selected. Choose the most comfortable and most ergonomic handle you can find.

6. Force the pegs into your handle and glue them in place. You may need to enlarge the hole by drilling it out a bit.

7. Take the flat-headed screwdriver and slip it between the two pegs. Bend the pegs to 45 each, forming a V shape.

8. Attach the band according to the instructions on the packet.

Info:

You can buy special high tensile slingshot bands from most guns and ammunition outlets for a relatively low price. Almost anything can be fired from a slingshot. The best ammo, however is marbles. Small, heavy, aerodynamic and cheap - everything you need in a projectile. When firing anything, always be careful not to hit the back of your thumb-knuckle with the projectile as you release the band. It doesn't seem like it could happen, but it does and it hurts like hell. You can get special arm-guards to stop this from happening. I haven't got a clue where you'd get one though.
