The Niedzica Castle was built probably by Janos or Rykolf Berzeviczy in the early 14th century. The castle was strenghtened and extended around 1470. Niedzica changed hands again and again. When the castle was burnt down in 1817 the owner Andreas Horvath reconstructed it. In the end of the 19th century Niedzica castle was destroyed in a fire. It was restored once more by the Salamons family.

Niedzica castle is the typical mountain castle. It is located on the hill, about 80 metres above the waters of Dunajec. The castle was erected in gothic style (present High Castle). There were the living apartments and chapel with a crypt in the High Castle. During the reconstruction the Low Castle was added. Now the castle serves as a museum. There is a hotel part for tourists too.
