  The US Naval Academy

Since about 1845 an estimate of 60,000 young men and women have successfully finished 4 years of schooling on the Bay. When that is done, they will take their well- earned places as graduates of the US Naval Academy. The Midshipmen will receive $558.04 a month for books, uniform, and their personal needs. For admission to the Academy you must be a citizen/citizens of the US of good moral character, at least 17 years of age, must not be married and not pregnant. In 1950 the Naval School was renamed to the US Naval Academy. The class of 2003 included 16% women. Alternate nomination sources are available.

                                Deep Creek Lake Park

Deep Creek Lake State Park is located west of the Allegheny Front on a large plateau known as the Tablelands or Allegany Highlands. The park includes approximately 1 mile of shore line, Maryland’s biggest lake. People have been associated with the use of this land for thousands of years. The mountains stayed relatively untouched until the end of the last century when massive logging operation began stripping the land of the virgin red spruce, hemlock, white pines, and yellow birch forest. Forest wildlife species such as black bear, wild turkey, bobcat, and white tailed deer have increased over the past decades as the habitat has been preserved and managed.

                                The Baltimore Ravens Stadium

The Baltimore Ravens stadium is located in the heart of Baltimore City, Maryland. In the past it has had three different names. They are Ravens Stadium, PSINet Stadium, and now it’s called the M and T Bank Stadium. Our beloved team won the Superbowl in 2000. The Superbowl is one of the most important game in football. It occurs once every year.
Awhile back Baltimore did not have a professional football team for eleven years. The Colts, another pro team, represented Baltimore before the Ravens came on in. But they moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. Then Baltimore was in need of a professional team. Finally eleven years had passed and the Ravens came into play.

                               Antietam National Battlefield

There are many things that are great about Antietam. Antietam was established by the Act of Congress on August 30, 1890. This Civil War site marks the end of General Robert E. Lee’s first invasion of the North in September 1862. The battlefield is located in Washington County, Maryland. The battle claimed more than 23,000 men killed, wounded, and missing in one single day. This was the site of the single bloodiest day in American military history.
