The Acropolis
The
Acropolis were both the fortified citadel and state sanctuary of the ancient city
of Athens. Although the great building programs of the 5th century B.C. have
disturbed or covered many of the earlier remains, there is still a great deal of
archaeological evidence attesting the importance of the Acropolis in all periods
of time.
Monastiraki Market
The
Monastiraki flea market is the place to be on Sunday when it seems every
Athenian is here either buying or selling.
You have to get here early because after about 11am the crowd becomes huge.
There is a collection of small shops. Most of them are tourist shops with the
same stuff you can find on Adrianou street in the Plaka.

Panathinaiko Stadium
The
Panathinaiko Stadium was first constructed in 330 B.C.
At that time is was considered pleasing to the gods to hold games where the
skill and strength of the athletes could be seen, and of course, in Athens, the
people wanted to honour their patron goddess, Athena, with their very own games.
The Panathenean games were organized and a glorious marble stadium was
constructed on a site between two green hills.
In 1896 the renaissance of the Olympic Games breathed life back into this
stadium and it was rebuilt to host the first modern Olympic Games.
In 2004 Olympic games Panathinaiko Stadium will host Archery.
