This is the Galah called Charlie at Botanic Golf
near the 16 and 17 hole. He likes to play tug of war with dead leaves and
crunches them to bits. But fingers are his favourite food!!
In the 1960’s Mr Theo Puilk
(a man who studied landscaping and architecture for 9 years in Holland)
thought about turning 2 hectares of sand and scrubs into a Botanical Garden with
18 holes of minigolf. This took him 7 years to complete. The botanic gardens and
minigolf course opened in 1981. At the botanic gardens there is room for
picnics, BBQ’s and birthday parties.

John Forrest National Park
John Forrest National Park is the
place to go if you want to see natural bush land which is found in
Western Australia.
History
It is one of Australia's oldest conservation areas and was Western
Australia's first national park. It is located on the Northern edge of 'The
Hills Forest and is twenty eight kilometres east of Perth city. This area
was first established in the year 1898 as a reserve which conserves its many
natural and cultural features. In the early 1900's visitors came from Perth
by a train to enjoy a day in the beautiful bush land. In the 193O's,
sometimes known as 'The Time of the Great Depression,' sustenance workers
built areas for people's personal needs and enjoyment. In 1947 it was named
John Forrest National Park in honour of a famous Western Australian explorer
and statesman.
What to do
This great place provides magnificent views of the Swan river coastal plain
and contains walk trails through rugged wilderness, along the old railway or
to quiet pools and spectacular waterfalls. John Forrest National Park has
two beautiful waterfalls, with crystal blue water. One called Hovea falls
and the other National Park Falls. It is a short walk to both waterfalls
along a walk trail, which goes through natural bush land. There are also
walk trails to other places such as rocky pool and you can go hiking along
the John Forrest heritage trail. It is the perfect place for sightseeing,
picnicking, bush walking, photography, mountain biking, horse riding and has
areas for the disabled.
