PRAY FOR THE PHILIPPINES

Birthing the Land of Revival in Asia

"From the east I summon a bird of prey;
From a far-off land, a man to fulfill My purpose.

Yes, I have spoken; yes, I will cause it to come;
I have formed; yes, I will do it."
(Isaiah 46:11)

"And going down to a city of Samaria, Philip proclaimed Christ to them. And with one passion the crowds heeded that being said by Philip when they heard and saw the many miraculous signs which he did. For many of the ones having unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, they came out. And many who had been paralyzed and lame were healed. And great joy was in that city." (Acts 8:5-8)

Looming Economic Crisis

• "The Philippine government spends P850 billion every year. Of this amount, P250 billion is lost annually because of graft and corruption.

• "The Philippine government spends P356 million everyday just to pay the interests of debt incurred by the National Power Corporation (NAPOCOR).

• "The Philippines, which used to be the 2nd richest nation in Asia, is now the second poorest nation next to Bangladesh.

• "According to Transparency International, the Philippines is the 3rd most corrupt nation in Asia and 11th in the whole world.

• "The Philippines is known to be the sex and drug capital of Asia.

• "Everyday, 2,500 to 3,000 Filipinos leave the nation to work overseas."

"According to statistics, there are about half a million prostitutes in the Philippines who are forced into this 'job' because of poverty in this nation. As night falls, they stand in dark street corners. Somewhere in another hole, their children are hidden away, hungry, waiting to be fed. Fathers who care are usually absent or are, themselves, the pimps for these women.

       "The population of the Philippines is growing fast and so does the poverty. More than 1/3 of the Filipino population is poor. If somebody is able to find simple work, he might be lucky to earn about P250 ($5) a day. That's definitely not enough to supply the needs of a family with 3 or often more children. That is one reason why crime and prostitution are increasing. "Statistics say that there are about 80,000 street children in Metro Manila (alone) who fight their way through life in the streets. Most of them have no chance of a proper education."

"The Philippine government is in deep crisis � in every sense of the word. Financially, it is at the brink of bankruptcy � more than 77% of its 2005 budget will be used to pay debts, while it continues to incur a widening budget deficit (estimated to reach P200 billion by end of 2004, or twice the optimistic deficit level projected by the government for 2005).

       "Malaca�ang (the 'white house' of the Philippines) will have to contend with growing political unrest, this time not coming from the quarters of ordinary dissidents but from the local officials and ordinary people. As the prices of goods and cost of living escalate without corresponding increase in income levels, workers and professionals are also quite likely to become politically agitated, and Malaca�ang will sink deeper into dependence with the military to maintain peace and order in the country.

       "Still the much larger problem of the Philippine society is the bankruptcy of its social and moral values. It is a nation that calls itself 'Christian' and yet one of the most corrupt in Asia and throughout the world. People have lost their social mooring, having been subject to a succession of leaders who plundered the nation and/or who have done very little to stop those who loot the nation�s wealth."

�In the pockets of many places, provinces, islands and mountains, even cities, you will begin to see, you will begin to see the revival in the pockets. You will begin to see in different provinces, mountains and even in the smallest villages and the slums. 'I shall begin pockets, pockets, pockets of revival spirit. My revival shall break forth. And I say to you, I am about to give you a great release of harvest of souls in an evangelism revival,' says the Spirit of God... And the Spirit of God showed to me, the revival in the land (the Philippines) will start from the south (Mindanao). And I am going to come,� says the Lord, �and I am going to begin at the places in the Philippines that have been the bloodiest, the places where the guerilla�s insurrection have been the strongest. And I am going to come with signs, wonders and miracles. And I am getting ready to pour out a miracle anointing upon the Philippines such as the earth has never seen."

Prayer Points

GOD'S PRESENCE�� Please pray that the Holy Spirit would continue to give the Filipino Church a deep hunger for God's presence and His Word. Ask the Lord to give us, Filipino Christians, mighty outpourings of His Spirit on a regular and on-going basis. May we spend hours upon hours upon hours in His presence and soak, soak, soak, soak, soak in His Word. This will cause us to be more Christ-like in character, hear His voice clearly and on a regularly basis, and thereby live and operate in the realm of miracles, signs and wonders for God's kingdom and glory.

 

MIRACLE EVANGELISM � Ask God to raise up Filipino soul-winners, preachers, evangelists and missionaries who will saturate the whole Philippines and the nations of the world with the Gospel of salvation, healing, deliverance and prosperity in Christ. Pray that the "looming crisis" in our nation would not hinder us from fulfilling our call to be the "burning bush" of God's glory and the "launching pad" of the Gospel in Asia. Ask the Lord to give us the "God-kind of faith" and teach us how to supernaturally access resources and provision for both local and global evangelism.

 

HUMANITARIAN OUTREACH � Please pray that the Filipino Church would respond to God's call to reach the poor masses of the Philippines through evangelistic, medical, educational and livelihood outreaches. Ask the Lord to give us wisdom and resources as we win, disciple and lead our lost and destitute people towards holistic development and transformation.

 

SOCIO-POLITICAL REFORMATION - Please pray that as we priorities the task of reaching poor children and their families, the Lord would raise up the new breed of pastors, business persons, politicians and media people that we have been praying for.  Please pray also as we begin to seek God for His plan and strategy to spread the vision of Christ-centered, Bible-based reformation and transformation all over Mindanao and the Philippines.
