Greetings Music Lovers,

This picture you see here of me in a field of sunflowers reflects my love of nature, but you may be wondering why I have it on the home page of my web site.   Its’ relationship to my Music School has to do with a poem by my favourite American poet, Mary Oliver, entitled “The Sunflowers”. She describes these flowers as knowing the “long work of turning their lives into a celebration”. One of the passions I bring to Open Door Music is a desire to help children and parents do just that, through the medium of music. Amidst all that can make life difficult, music has a magical way of rearranging us on the inside to celebrate what is good and beautiful.

The CD I recorded last summer called, “Let Your Love Hang Out!” reflects that passion as well.  Parents often comment to me about my joy and enthusiasm when I teach. That is exactly what I hope to impart to the children who attend my classes. In fact, I hope their exposure to Open Door Music will leave them with a lifelong passion for music!
