[01k] The Empire Strikes Back

[01k01] Homeward Bound

You will start this section where you left off, next to HQ's prison if you were recruiting Sonya.

*!* SAVE

This is important, as you are now on the final few battles and do not want anything from before lost. Talk to Mathiu in the War Room and he will tell you to march to Gregminster. You are given a choice:

Let's wait and see what happens.{Disagree and send the game into a loop}
*March to the capital.
{Agree and go attack}

The troops will gather and Leknaat will come to give support morally. If you recruited all the stars before that Strategy Battle with Sonya (except Sonya of course), and if only Gremio was dead, Leknaat will resurrect him! If not, then I'm sorry, but you'll either have to work without the bonus or start all over again. Then there will be cut-scenes around the HQ again.

*!* SAVE

When given the option, you are given a choice:

Wait a minute.{Save, heal, etc., then ask again}
*All right. Let's go!
{Start the final Strategy Battle}

After agreeing to fight, the scene switches to Kaanan and Yuber on the enemy side. Kirkis comes to tell you that the enemy has 100,000 more troops and Windy will try to get rid of them, but fail. You are given a choice:

*The Soul Eater...
{Get yelled at by Windy that you must never use that Rune}
*Then what...
{Start questioning what to do}

No matter which choice you make (and no bonus has been found for avoiding using the Rune during the game), Joshua uses his rune in conjuncture with Windy. They get rid of 80,000 monsters, at least. You are thrown in Strategy Battle: Barbarossa: 20,000 vs. Tir: ? [03f].

Once you've won the battle, Hanzo (from kasumi's village) will show up with Zorak and the Chief of the Dwarves. You should move on to Gregminster Town (2) [05a31] to confront Barbarossa in his Palace. You are automatically given Flik and Viktor to take with you, but the other three party members are optional.

*!* SAVE

As you walk towards Gregminster Palace [05b36], one of the five generals, the Boss Ain Gide [03c], shows up on the bridge. You need to fight him to continue. Once you beat him, Tir automatically goes past the body, but is able to walk back out of the Palace afterwards.

*!* SAVE

Enter Gregminster Palace and fight your way up towards the Throne Room NW door. When soldiers appear to fight during this 'dungeon', you will not be permitted to run. However, you may run from other enemies if you so choose. There will be a cross-section at one point, and going West will take you to a Journeyman Crystal. You must save at this crystal in order to use the information in this game for the second game.

*!* SAVE

Finally, you will reach a long hall with a carpet. This is the last place to turn around until you reach the point of no return! You are approaching the final boss.

After going past this hall, you will confront Barbarossa, who turns into a large, three headed Golden Hydra [03c]. Apparently, the West head can heal all the heads, and all three heads need to be defeated to win.

The East head is immune to Fire, the Center head is immune to Lightning, and the West head is immune to (Earth, I think). When using a combo Fire-Lightning attack, only the West head will be hurt. The other two block the combination.

After defeating the beast, all of the great generals will run over and Windy will show up. She will take your Soul Eater, causing Tir to disappear, and then a cut-scene will play, ending in her complaining. You will reappear at that time. Barbarossa appologizes, grabs Windy, and jumps from the Palace, suiciding. The castle will start to shake and you will be told to run for it.

There is no time limit, despite what it seems. Along the escape path, a group of Imperials come out and Viktor insists on holding them off. You are given a choice:

Don't be ridiculous, Viktor.{Refuse and send the game into a loop}
*Hurry.
{Agree and rush on}

Shortly, arrows will rain down on you and Flik will be injured. He says he'll stall for time by blocking the enemy so you can escape. You are given a choice:

I can't leave you here.{Refuse and send the game into a loop}
*Stay alive, Flik.
{Agree and run off}

Now you will be able to watch the characters run, the Palace collapsing, and some major characters standing in front of the Castle (even if you had them in your party). A victory celebration starts, and teh screen goes to Mathiu and Luikan talking about war. Mathiu dies and the game displays what happened to each character you recruited.

If you missed your bonus, Tir is shown walking off. If you got the bonus, you will have Gremio in the picture, as well. However, do not be disappointed, as this means Gremio, too, will come back in the second game.
