Fortune Rune: Doubles Experience, can be bought later in the game: Go Solo: Go up Mount TigerWolf to Sarady, cross the field into town, and enter the house in the North-East corner. He'll give you the rune.
Naturally, the monsters along the way may be too tough to beat, so you may wish to Save at Gregminster first. Go to Rockland and try the Marco's Pattern Trick [09a04], to get a lot of ready bits. Then sharpen weapons and buy equipment at Rockland, Gregminster, and Lenenkamp. Don't bother with a Rune for Tir, though, as you are going to be acquiring one in Sarady. Wander around near one of the towns, fighting monsters. You may get killed several times until you find one you can beat. I recommend that you save after getting money, equipment, sharpening, and after each successful win against a monster, until you're about sixth or seventh level. This will prevent you from losing all you've worked to get because you've encountered one of the tougher monsters.
Once about 8th level or higher, you should be ready for a lot of the monsters on TigerWolf, but you may wish to have extra medicine with you. You can always raid the chests to sell things, same as Mt. Seifu near Rockland, but some things you may wish to leave in their chests for when you have more people and are closer to the end of the first chapter. Again, this is merely a recommendation. If you pick and choose which chests to raid, you may wish to use the Map Locations Guide [05] that goes with each area. Once you've gotten your rune (and saved if you choose), you should head back down the mountain and can continue the story as you see fit.
If you get the Fortune Rune, you will not get the Prosperity Rune by going back with Ted.

Prosperity Rune: Doubles Money, very rare in game: Go with Ted only: Go up Mount TigerWolf to Sarady, cross the field into town, and enter the house in the North-East corner. He'll give you the rune.

Marco has a pair of pattern that he follows from the beginning of the game until you go to Mount Seifu after the bandits. After that time, the patterns become totally random. While it is still predictable, it will reset to the beginning of the pattern every time you leave town and return to Marco, but will not reset if you switch the amount you bet in the middle of a session. Simply bet 100 bits and write down where the coin appears. Keep this up as long as perhaps ten or so times (or more if you desire).
Once you have the two patterns written down (or at least one of them), you can approach Marco and use one or two 100 bit bets to figure out which written down pattern he is using. After that, by following the pattern you've determined, you can bet 1,000 or even 10,000 bits without having to actually follow the cups.

The list of items that this can be done with is not complete, but includes anything which has multiple uses, such as medicine, antitoxin, needles, etc. Once you've got your castle and Rock, your warehouse manager, every time you put a multi-use item in, it fully recharges. Thus, if you put a medicine that is down to it's last use in the warehouse, it will charge back up to six uses, etc.

This trick only works if you already have more than one goldlet. Once you have more than one goldlet in your warehouse, you can extract as many as you wish from storage without the number decreasing. If you have only one goldlet, however, the number will decrease. The goldlets extracted can be worn or even sold for 9,500 bits.

Sansuke's bath can be used to display vases, ornaments, paintings and so forth. Certain combinations of these antiques have special side effects. The following is an incomplete listing of combinations:
6 Hex dolls & 2 Graffiti
6 Persian Lamps
6 Failure Urns, 1 Landscape Painting, & 1 Nature Painting
1 Peeing Boy in the top right corner of the male bath
6 Vases & 2 Flower Paintings

After recruiting both Gaspar and Marie, this trick is possible. Save your game at Marie's Inn then talk to Gaspar. You can bet what you wish, though some people advise to bet as much as possible. If you lose, simply reset your game. If you win, you can bet again or you can go save again. My personal advice is to save after each big win, but some people take a chance and keep betting until they're broke, at which point they reset.

The stairs unfortunately lead to nothing in the American version of the game. In the Japanese version, two characters for recruiting were up there, and you could reach them by bringing three Elves in your party. Chapman and a girl names Ellie were the ones upstairs. Ellie is not in the American version at all, but will appear again in the Second game, for those looking for her.

Lotte must first have asked you to find her cat. You are not able to pick up the cat any time you want and carry him around. The cat will always run from you, and in order to pick it up, you need to hit the + button while standing next to hit. Thus, the simplest way seems to be to "trap" it in the Southeast part of town above the Tavern. Another suggestion is to use Stallion or have one of the people wearing a Holy Rune with you.

As you will find out during play, there are certain deaths you cannot prevent, but there are others which seem inevitable but are not really. One death that can be prevented is Pahn's. In order to do this, right after Scarletica, you will find yourself in front of your own castle. Immediately go to heal your people and save the game (especially making sure Pahn is healed and of a high level). You may recruit as you see fit, but avoid talking to Kasumi in the Conference Room until you are ready. At that point, talk to the strange Ninja in Pink (Kasumi) and she will join you for a battle against Teo McDohl. In the following duel, in order to get Teo to make more Desperate Attacks (and therefore making him easier to predict and defeat), follow these steps:
| ONE | When Mathiu asks if you are ready to fight your father, say "Yes" the first time. |
| TWO | In the Strategy battle against Teo McDohl, use Magic all times. |
| THREE | When Pahn asks to fight Teo McDohl, prevent him by saying "I'll see you later". Keep saying this until Mathiu gets annoyed and stops you. |
| FOUR | Wish Pahn "Good Luck" once Mathiu stops you from preventing Pahn from fighting. |
This should make it easier to defeat, but having the best possible armor on Pahn, and making sure he is at least 30th elvel will also help. If Pahn loses, reset the game and play from your last save (which is why you want to save after Scarletica and before talking to Kasumi).

After you defeat Neclord, Clive will randomly show up at the Inn in rikon. However, he is not always there. The best time to get him is before you actually bring Luikan to the Dragon Knights, as you may have little opportunity from then on, and Clive is a strong long-distance fighter. Simply go to the Inn in Rikon and look for the shadowy shape between two beds or behind the Innkeeper. If he is not there, leave the town then come back in right away and check the Inn again. You may have to do this repeatedly, but eventually he will be there and you can recruit him.

Recruiting Leon is extremely hard, and takes great care in when you appear before him. During the Dragon Knight quest, your castle should reach its fourth and final level. A flag will be flying on the castle in a very brief glimpse as soon as you have reached the highest castle level and return by boat. Thus, while on the Dragon Quest, you may wish to repeatedly Teleport to Koku and sail back to the castle, until your flag shows. Once this happens, you should recruit Clive, Crowley, and Pesmerga, but do this before you finish the Dragon Quest.
Teleport to Kalekka and talk to Leon. He should give you a message for Mathiu, which you should immediately bring back to Mathiu. Mathiu should then give you a letter for Leon, which you should immediately bring back to Kalekka for Leon. This should recruit Leon. Then you should finish the Dragon Quest. If you wait too long to recruit Leon, you will be unable to do so, and thus you will not get the final bonus and your last star will remain unavailable.

Gremio will have a death scene, as well. This cannot be prevented, but can be reversed later. In order to do so, you need all 107 stars (aside from Gremio who will be listed in gray on your Stone Tablet). In order to get all 107 stars, you need to make sure not to kill anyone, including the following people: Kwanda Rosman, Milich Oppenheimer, Pahn, Sonya Shulen, Griffith, and Kasim Hazil. However, if Ted, Odessa, and Commander Kraze die, that is quite acceptable and will not interfere with your bonus ending. Also, if anyone is 'defeated' and 'dies' during Strategy Battles, you will need to reset and redo the Strategy Battle, as they will be counted as dead on the Tablet, and will not get you the bonus.
Once you have all 107 stars alive, just before the final battle, Leknaat will resurrect Gremio for you, and he will be able to return with Tir in the second game.
