Duels, like Strategy Battles, are of a Rock, Paper, Scissors (or Jangen) type system. The damage dealt is depending on what each duelist does. Based on the opponent's next spoken line, you can often figure out what choice he or she will make (guides below). The strength or weakness of each choice is as follows:
| Choice | Strong Against | Weak Against |
|---|---|---|
| Defend | Desperate Attack | Attack |
| Attack | Defend | Desperate Attack |
| Desperate Attack | Attack | Defend |

| Name | Members | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Dragon Knights | Joshua, Milia, Futch | The Air Force, per say. They are best used at the |
| beginning of battle, due to their power being higher | ||
| the more enemies you face. They are weak against | ||
| Bow Attack, but their demise does not affect your | ||
| Army numbers. | ||
| Merchants | Kun To, Chapman, Chandler | They convince small numbers of the enemy to defect |
| to your side, increasing your Army Number by that | ||
| much. However, they seem to work best when the | ||
| enemy has higher numbers than you. | ||
| Ninjas | Kage, Kasumi, Fuma | They will infiltrate and find out the Enemy's next |
| strike with an 100% accuracy. | ||
| Thieves | Krin, Ledon, Giovanni | They will infiltrate and either find out the Enemy's |
| next Strike (50% success) or steal money (50% | ||
| chance). This seems to be a random event as to | ||
| which choice they use. | ||
| Strategists | Mathiu, Leon, Apple | Boost the Attack Power of your Charge Attack, if you |
| follow the designated plant he strategist gives you. | ||
| You can do more Boosted Chargers if you have more | ||
| strategists. |
As the 108 Stars can die during Strategy Battles, it is advisable to SAVE the game before opting to go into battle. Therefore, you can always redo the battle if someone dies.
