This opens with you on your castle docks. Up in the War Room, Lepant will talk to you, then everyone will insist on attack Lorimar [05a24]. You are given a choice:
*Let's attack the fortress of Lorimar! | {Agree} |
| Let's wait a little longer. | {Do other things, then ask again} |
Go South of Soniere Prison (I believe). Lorimar will be found to be deserted. Cleo and Viktor will automatically join your aprty, but Mathiu gives you the option about your other three members. Head South out the doors. You are able to return at any time, and the first return will expose Kirke waiting in the wings. Going South leads you to the Warrior's Village [05a25]. In there, you will meet Zorak who will eventually ask you to come inside. You can opt to explore first, or go right inside.
To continue the story, go inside and talk with Zorak, who is very long-winded. Night will fall, and you will need to talk to Tengaar, then Hix. Afterwards, talk to Viktor and Tir will go to sleep.
In the morning, Neclord will attack Zorak and his warriors. You will be thrown into a Boss Battle with Neclord [03c]. Unfortunately, though certain things will hurt Neclord, you most likely will not last long enough to defeat him, as you are supposed to be defeated for the story to play out.
After your defeat, Neclord will kidnap Tengaar. In Zorak's house, Viktor will scold you, despite being the one to instigate the fight in the first place. You will need to speak to Zorak to find out about the Temple of Qlon, which will be your next story destination, though youa re free to do other things before going there.

Once ready, go to the Temple of Qlon [05a26], which is West of the Warrior's Village. Inside, you will need to speak to Fukien. He will join your cause, though you won't be able to use him untl later. There is a rest and save point in the West room fo the castle, if you 'talk' to the bed. He leads you to the Cave of the Past [05b27], at the back of the Temple.
The Cave of the Past acts as a mini-maze, with two secret passages. If you see the wall look suspiciously straight on the bottom part, then try to walk through it: it could be a secret passage. The first one is South of the entrance, about four 'screens' in from the main one. It runs South, then East, then South again. It contains a Crystal you may desire to get your 108 bonus. The second secret passage is on 'screen eight' (including the one you will see twice if you don't double-back). It is a longer, harder passage and approximately goes: South, East, South, West, South, East, South. Inside is a Recruit who will join after you defeat Neclord.
In one section you will see a platform with a sword on it. Only approach it when youa re absolutely ready, done getting treasure, etc.
Finally, to continue the story, approach the Sword, which will throw you backwards in time about 300 years. You will find yourself in the Village of the Lost Rune [05a27]. A young boy who resembles your friend Ted will run from you. To continue the story, follow him and he'll run again. Follow hima gain and he will finally confront you about stealing a treasure. You get a choice:
*What treasure? | {Ask what he means} |
*No. | {Tell him you're not here to steal} |
An elderly man will call him away and Cleo turns to you with a question. You get a choice:
*He did remind me of Ted. | {Wonder about how much alike they are} |
*No, it must be someone else. | {Refuse that he may have been Ted} |
In the Northeast is the Village Chief. Follow him into his house and talk to him. Windy will show up and everyone goes outside. The village is set on fire and the Chief will teleport you into the back room in his house. He then transfer his rune, the Soul Eater, to the boy, Ted. You are asked to protect him.
To continue the story you will need to go out the back door along the path. Yuber will show up and threaten you, but Neclord will amazingly show up and tell him to report to Windy. Before Viktor can attack, Neclord and Yuber disappear. You will be in the village. You have the freedom to go raid the Eastern house of its treasure and to go back through the back room and down the path to get the treasure there, as well. Once ready, go towards the steps of the Shrine and Viktor will ask what to do with Ted. You are given a choice:
*We'll take him along. | {Agree to take him} |
*We can't take him along. | {Refuse to take him} |
Even if you bring Ted, he won't come with you through the time portal. You will be back in front of the sword, Viktor converses with it. It's called the Star Dragon Sword, and has the ability to make Neclord vulnerable to all attacks in the party, unlike before. Viktor claims the sword and you are free to leave the Caves.
Return to the Warrior's Village when ready.

In the Warrior's Village, Zorak and his Warriors are prepared to head off to confront Neclord. You are free to do what you will, but the story will not continue until you talk to Zorak. The group leaves for Neclord's, and youa re left behind with your party. Go Southwards and you should find Neclord's Castle [05b28].
At the castle, Zorak will speak with you and Neclord will come outside to taunt you. Hix will ask to come with you into the castle, and you will be given a choice:
| You'll just be in the way. | {Refuse his request as the game goes into a loop} |
*All right. Come with us. | {Agree to let him help you} |
You will go into the castle, but then be free to leave at will. Upon leaving (if it's before you finish this castle), you will need to speak to Zorak so he lets you past him. You will have the chance to rest, save, recruit, etc., before continuing this castle. There is a Journeyman Crystal in Neclord's basement, in the West room.
Once ready, go through the castle. On the third floor, you will find a room with paintings in it. It's actually a combination lock for a secret protal. You will need to talk to each painting in the proper order to get it to open. There is a way to try to figure it out yourself, by talking to the Zombie in the basement East room, but he costs a lot of bits to give you clues. If you'd like, here is the combination: Chestnut Tree, Girl in the Early Afternoon, Peasant Girl, King of the Night.
Once you are able to get past them, you will notice that the sun is beginning to set outside. You will not actually have a time limit, so don't panick. There is a balcony outside his room. The sunset will be very close, and that is the point of no return.
(Yes, saving means going all the way back to heal, etc., then coming back. But it is optional, and there is a Boss coming up.)
Once you pass the balcony, you will be in a large room with an organ. Neclord will confront you, then you will be thrown into a Boss Battle with Neclord [03c]. Once Viktor gets his first attack in, everyone's damage will work (unless you noted who can damage him in the first battle), so use that strategy accordingly.
After Neclord is defeated, you can rescue Tengaar, as well as checking for the secret chest with the Rage Rune [06a03]. You can continue the story by leaving the castle, but before you leave, make sure Viktor is not carrying anything you value, or the Blinking Mirror.
Once outside, Viktor wants permission to go (alone) to his hometown of North Wind (which is in the City-State of Jowston), and you get a choice:
| That could be a problem. | {Refuse his request as the game goes into a loop} |
*All right. Come back soon. | {Agree to let him leave} |
Viktor leaves, Tengaar and Hix join, and when ready you should return to your castle.
