[01b01] Decisions

Lenenkamp is South of Gregminster. As soon as you enter the town, Viktor leaves the party. To continue the story, go to the Inn and agree to stay the night. No money will be taken from you, evne though the man says it costs money. Imperial soldiers enter the Inn during the night and you are forced to make a choice:

*Let's fight.
{The others think you are joking}
*I'm scared, let's run.
{Fail in running away}

Suddenly a woman named Odessa will show up behind the large clock (yes, that is what it is), in the room. You need to follow her to continue the story. Go downstairs to the Liberation Army Hideout [05b05]. The people in the second room will tell you about the Liberation Army and will ask you to join:

*Who says I'll join?
{Show loyalty to the Empire}
*Maybe I should join the Liberation Army.
{Show interest in becoming a Rebel}

You are offered a place for the night, but there's nothing to do except leave the hideout. However, a bandit lies at the bottom of the stiars, injured. Upon talking to him, it comes out that Varkas and Sydonia are to be executed. The others discuss rescuing them, and you get a choice to say:

*It's our fault.
{Own up to being the ones who captured them}
*This has nothing to do with us.
{Lie about your involvement and get Gremio and Cleo to correct you}

You are to go on the mission to Rockland to save Varkas and Sydonia. Viktor will join your party once more. In Rockland, you are turned away from Grady's House [05b04], but Viktor sets fire to it and you get to go inside, while it's burning. You encounter guards along the way, the six at the end being the toughest. You rescue Varkas and Sydonia, then encounter Grady on the way out. Outside, the bandits will depart on their own and you should go back to the Liberation Army Hideout in Lenenkamp.

Odessa again asks you to join the Rebels, and you are given a choice:

*My father goes his way, I go mine.
{Become a Rebel}
*Since I'm a member of the Imperial Army...
{Stay loyal to the Empire and be given another choice}

*I guess...
{Become a Rebel}
I mean...{Stay loyal to the Empire as the game comes to a stand still}

Once you've joined the Rebels, you are given blueprints to a secret weapon, which need to go to the town of Sarady [05a05] at the top of Mount TigerWolf [05b06]. Odessa insists on coming with you. Mount TigerWolf is located NW of Lenenkamp. Simply go West to the shore, then follow it North until you find a bridge going West. Cross the bridge and look for the mountain with the tan path. That's Mount TigerWolf.

Halfway up the mountain, you encounter Ledon and his Inn. He will invite you in and the others will agree they are tired. You are given a choice:

*Me too.
{Stay at the Inn, won't cost anything}
We'd better go on.{Insist on going on alone as the game comes to a stand still}

When you go inside, Ledon offers you some special bitter tea. You are given a choice:

Not if it's bitter.{Refuse the tea, get asked three times, then the game comes to a stand still}
*Just a taste, then.
{Get poisoned, but game is NOT over}

As soon as the entire party collapses, they are robbed and Kessler comes in. He discusses the party with Ledon and figures out Odessa is with you. Ledon rushes off to make an antidote to revive you, as they support the Rebels. You have a talk with Kessler about Odessa and the Rebel cause before the others wake up. Ledon lets you stay for free any time you come up Mount TigerWolf while he is there. You are able to continue up the mountain.

Once on the World Map, go North to Sarady. The story continues when you agree to stay at the Inn. In the middle of the night, you wake up and follow Odessa outside. She talks to you, saying "May I ask you something." You are given a choice:

*What is it?
{Odessa asks for reassurances about her eladership}
*I'm not interested.
{Surpise her and she keeps going anyway

Odessa then asks if you'll return to the Empire, and you are given a choice:

*Of course.
{Odessa claims you are enemies, then}
*I don't understand.
{She chastises you for not thinking}

*
*

After your discussion, Kage shows up to fetch the Blueprints and you both go back inside to sleep. In the morning, the others fuss about not being involved, and you should head back down to Lenenkamp.

*!* SAVE

[01b02] True Escapes

In Lenenkamp, the Inn Keeper has been attacked and the Liberation Army Headquarters discovered. Upon going inside, Odessa runs off. When you follow her, you are attacked. She was injured when protecting a child who'd strayed down there. She makes two requests of you. She wants you to give her earring to Mathiu in Seika, and she wants you to throw her body in a stream to hide her death. You are given a choice:

*I can't.
{You refuse, and are asked twice more, after which Viktor does it}
*As you wish.
{You agree to follow her wishes}

Odessa dies and you need to flee South to the Fortress of Kwaba [05a06]. Once there, you need to decide how to get through the gates, as they are guarded by one of the five great generals Ain Gide. Viktor suggests changing your names and hiding your face. You are given a choice of names:

*Masamune.
{The others react oddly}
*Piisuke.
{The others react with uncertainty}
*Schtolteheim Reinbach IV.
{Pretend to be Viktor's son}

Soldiers stop you from passing through and Ain Gide will confront your party. Gremio will threaten to chop off your head to prove he is not harboring criminals. Ain decides you aren't dressed well enough to be Teo McDohl's son, Tir, and lets you pass. After you reach the South of the Fortress of Kwaba, Gremio begs your forgiveness for threatening you, and youa re given a choice:

*Unforgivable!
{Refuse and be asked twice more, after which he falls silent}
*I understand, Gremio.
{Show understanding}

The game is not particularly affected whether you forgive him or not, so to continue the story, head South the Seika [05a07]. At the North of town will be a school. If you talk to the student closest to the blackboard, he will tell you where to find Mathiu. Go talk to Mathiu, where he will head for his school. Follow him up and he'll tell you to go away, he wants nothing to do with you. If you turn to leave, Imperial Soldiers will come up, trying to draft Mathiu into service. They will threaten one of the children, and you are given a choice:

*Help them, of course.
{Run to attack the soldiers}
*Wait. Let's see what's happening.
{Listen to the conversation and follow Viktor in to fight}

The Imperials will ask who you are, and you are given a choice:

*Survivors of the Rebel Army.
{Sound like you're out for revenge}
*Just some good guys passing by.
{Hide your involvement with the Rebels}

Either way, you have to fight the Imperials. Mathiu gets upset about the violence in front of the children. You offer the earring and he refuses it. You are given a choice:

*Why?
{Ask for a reason}
*But Odessa...
{Try to tell him about her last request and get a reason anyway}

Mathiu explains about Odessa's earring and asks you to become the Leader of the Liberation Army. You are given a choice:

I can't do it.
{Refuse as the game comes to a stand still}
*I'll do it.
{Agree}

Once you've agreed, Mathiu will assign you a mission.
