DESCRIPTION
General description
- The main machines are the
available soft soil tracked transporters. For pineapple crop
mechanisation on peat the main machine is Porter P6-121, a soft
soil transporter specially fitted with 3-point linkages and
power-take-off. Various implements and attachments were
adapted for use with this primemover.

PERFORMANCE
- The metal tracked transporter is more suitable for use under woody peat condition than rubber tracked ones.
- For pineapple crop mechanisation on peat, Porter P6-121 has good potential for use in the estates although it is limited by its low travel speed, low PTO power and non- durability of the rubber tracks.

STATUS
- Based on the work on Porter P6-121, MARDI has designed MALTRAK, a peat transporter cum tractor prototype in 1986 and PEATTRAK, a peat tractor prototype in 1996.
