| Q. Who is organizing this? A. My name is Duncan McGregor. I am a level 3 DCI judge in Toronto, Ontario, and will be familiar to those of you who attend PTQs and Prereleases in Ontario. Q. If all of the sponsorship money is being given away as prizes, what do you get out of it? A. I think that having a tournament like the OCC is a good thing for Magic in Ontario, and I think that running one myself is the best way to make sure that it happens. That's it. Q. Why don't you use Type 1/Team Sealed/Bingeman's 100 card/my other favourite format instead of Standard and Duplicate Sealed? A. As much as I would like to have players competing in many different formats, I need to make sure that the qualifier tournaments attract enough players to make it worth the stores' while to sponsor this event. I believe that the chosen formats offer the best mix of skill and attendance. Q. What has changed from 2004 to 2005? A. - top 8 draft changed from Rochester draft to cube booster draft (Finals) - Trivia questions added to finals (Finals) - Formal process added to renounce invitation (Qualifiers) - Host store also contributing to prize pool (Sponsors) - No recommended entry/prizes for qualifiers; stores to set details (Qualifiers) Q. When will the date of the finals be set? A. The date will be finalized once the date for the Canadian Nationals has been announced. |
