| Welcome to St. Thomas Ontario |

| Okay, so I am not from St Thomas, I am actually from a border city, Windsor, Ontario to be precise. I was born there, raised there and felt certain that I would die there. Windsor is an interesting city, it was founded by French settlers who were at war with the south, the south being Detroit, however, Detroit is not south of Windsor. This leaves the traveller from Windsor to be completely discombobulated any time she or he leaves the Essex county region. I can only find north when the sun is setting or rising, this of course does not include days or perhaps nights when I have had mass amounts of alcohol in my system. So back to St. Thomas, I moved here about 3 years ago after first losing 160lbs of ex-husband baggage. Forget diet and exercise, removing one pain in the butt, lying, cheating husband is just the sort of poundage that any woman would be of benefit to lose. (side note: with diet, exercise and a healthy outlook on life I did manage to lose 40lbs. Hoorah! Healthy weight!) I wanted to start my new life off on the right foot; new city, new people, new everything! I looked in this area because I was living in a small village about a 15-45 minute drive from London (Note: variation to time varies with speed limit driver wishes to obey or take poetic licence in interpreting) Watford, the name of the village, housed a school, a road, and it is the blondest place I have ever seen! I am not blond and not Dutch as this community was founded on. For the first time I was the minority and it was unnerving; these people were blond, the sort of blond that did not require the use of a bottle. Eerie! Watford is full of charm, but it never felt like home. Upon first inception of St Thomas one has the feeling of being in a small town, however, St Thomas is actually a city, not a big one but a city nonetheless. Mullets are a pleanty, as well as pit bulls. St Thomas boasts that it is the rail city, as well as, having an obsession with the unfortunate elephant that met its end on one such rail. There is so much more to St Thomas Ontario then what the tourist information would have you believe. In the course of this diolog I plan to show a lot more of what makes St Thomas great. |
